Graham Platner, the Democrats' handpicked candidate to unseat Senator Susan Collins in Maine, was caught on video physically running away from a reporter who dared ask him about deleted Reddit posts describing a fetish involving porta-potties. This is the man Time Magazine put on their cover. This is the man Elizabeth Warren personally endorsed. And he literally fled like a shoplifter at Walmart rather than answer one question.
You really can't make this stuff up, folks.
Platner — a Marine veteran who enlisted in 2003 and served three combat tours in Iraq — posted under the now-deleted Reddit username "P-Hustle," an account he previously acknowledged was his. In a March 2017 post on the r/Military forum, responding to a thread about nostalgic military smells, Platner wrote: "I still have to jerk off every time I sit in a portas----er… that blue water smell conditioned me."
That's an actual quote from a man who wants to be a United States Senator.
But wait — there's more! In a March 2021 post on r/USMC, Platner praised crude phallic graffiti, calling it "beautiful," "engorged and veiny," and moving "towards its penetrative glory." In a 2013 post, he told people concerned about rape that they shouldn't "get so f---ed up they wind up having sex with someone they don't mean to." And he used the r-word at least 18 times across his posts.
When confronted about the posts, Platner's defense was — and I quote — "You should read the comments in context. It's very clear I'm joking. It's called s---posting." Great campaign slogan. Put it on a bumper sticker.
The porta-potty business is somehow not even the worst of it. Platner also has a history of sporting a tattoo on his chest that highly resembled the Nazi SS "totenkopf" skull. He denied being a "secret Nazi" and recently had the tattoo covered over. Nothing says "I'm totally not a Nazi" like quietly covering up your Nazi tattoo right before running for Senate.
Then there's the Chris Kyle situation. In a 2024 podcast interview, Platner smeared the late "American Sniper," suggesting that Kyle shot innocent civilians in Iraq to inflate his kill numbers. He mocked a dead Navy SEAL who gave his life for this country. Classy.
Oh, and in other deleted posts, Platner described himself as a "communist" and "socialist," praised Hamas military tactics, posted homophobic slurs, and mocked a wounded soldier. He also called white rural Mainers — you know, his own potential constituents — "racist and stupid."
This is the Democrat dream candidate. Townhall's Scott McClallen reported on the May 21 confrontation where a reporter asked Platner point-blank: "Do you still have to masturbate when you see portapotties?" Platner's response was to turn and sprint.
The NRSC has been hammering these revelations since the posts surfaced on May 19. Two-term Maine Governor Janet Mills ended her own Senate campaign after trailing Platner. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren both backed this guy. Time Magazine featured him on their cover as the progressive warrior who would finally take down Susan Collins.
Instead, they got a porta-potty creep with a Nazi tattoo who mocks dead SEALs and calls himself a communist.
The Democratic Party's vetting process, ladies and gentlemen. They spent years telling us Trump supporters were unhinged, and their golden boy is out here confessing fetishes on Reddit and running from reporters like he just robbed a gas station. Susan Collins must be sleeping like a baby tonight.
