The $83 Million Woman: DOJ Opens Criminal Perjury Investigation Into E. Jean Carroll

The Justice Department has opened a criminal perjury inquiry into E. Jean Carroll, the 82-year-old former magazine writer who accused President Trump of sexual assault and walked away with $83 million in court judgments. Turns out the liberal folk hero who became the face of "believe all women" may have been lying under oath the entire time.

According to Just The News, U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros of the Northern District of Illinois has launched the investigation into whether Carroll made false statements during her 2022 deposition. The focus? Carroll's sworn claim that she had "no outside funding" for her lawsuit against Trump — a statement that turned out to be spectacularly untrue once it emerged that billionaire Reid Hoffman had been bankrolling her legal fees and expenses.

Let that sink in for a moment. A billionaire Democrat mega-donor was secretly funding the lawfare against a sitting president's political rival, and the plaintiff swore under oath that nobody was helping her pay. In any other universe, that's called fraud.

Carroll accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in a Manhattan department store dressing room back in 1996. Trump dismissed the claims as a "hoax." A jury awarded Carroll $5 million in 2023, and a subsequent defamation judgment ballooned the total to $83 million. The media celebrated. MSNBC practically threw a parade. Carroll did a victory lap that would have made an Olympic sprinter jealous.

But here's the thing about lying under oath — it tends to catch up with you.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has recused himself from the matter, having previously represented Trump in the Carroll cases. So there's no conflict-of-interest angle for the left to hide behind, much as they'd love one.

We spent years watching Democrats weaponize the courts against Trump. Lawsuit after lawsuit, indictment after indictment, all designed to drain his resources, destroy his reputation, and keep him off the ballot. Carroll was the crown jewel of that operation — the sympathetic elderly woman who "bravely" took on the big bad president.

Except now the justice boomerang has completed its arc. The very legal system they weaponized is turning its gaze on one of their star witnesses. And the question isn't just whether Carroll lied about who was paying her bills — it's how deep the coordination went, who else knew, and whether Reid Hoffman's checkbook bought more than just legal representation.

Eighty-three million dollars. That's what a jury handed this woman based on testimony that federal prosecutors now believe may have been perjured. Every American who watched that verdict and thought "something smells wrong here" just got validated.

The left built Carroll into a weapon. Now that weapon is pointed right back at them.
