New Censorship Strategy – Ted Cruz Exposes Shadow Agenda

In an interview with The Daily Wire, Republican Senator Ted Cruz claims that web service providers are the covert means by which the tech sector suppresses conservative views. These providers are allegedly “removing infrastructural services that conservative organizations require to exist.”

The Texas Republican claims that although this new kind of censorship is “every bit as bad,” it is “much less apparent” to the public than comparable measures made by websites like Facebook. The Senate Commerce Committee conducted an inquiry that revealed businesses like Slack and Eventbrite that have restricted their popular services to conservatives due to political motivations.

The Daily Wire was the only outlet to acquire Cruz’s report, which he described as “a technique they are purposefully implementing to go after conservatives and suppress them.”

Cruz’s inquiry focused on how Eventbrite handled gatherings related to Matt Walsh’s documentary, “What is a Woman?” for the Daily Wire. The event firm, which owns about 50% of the online event management industry, removed event pages nationwide from its site, claiming that merely showing the movie violated their Hateful Events Policy.

Cruz’s committee discovered that action was taken despite the fact that no one at the corporation bothered to view the movie, despite the fact that organizations were simply provided general explanations for why their access to Eventbrite was terminated.

Cruz stated, “Eventbrite stated that their disapproval of the movie itself played a major role in their decision to cancel the “What is a Woman?” event. “However, they were unable to find any instances in the movie that went against the terms of service.”

“They called it a flagrant misuse of authority, carrying out an openly ideological leftist manner to stifle conservative opinions while not silencing those voices on the left,” Cruz said, explaining that “they canceled the event without seeing the movie.”

Additionally, Riley Gaines, a vocal female athlete who opposes permitting males to compete in women’s sports, was the featured guest at an event on “Protecting Women’s Sports” that Eventbrite withdrew its services from. Cruz found out that Eventbrite made its choice based on postings made by Gaines on social media, most notably one in which she said, “genuine women… lack a Y chromosome.”

Cruz also discovered that Libs of TikTok lost access to Slack, a nationwide communication tool utilized by businesses, due to genuine remarks the platform made on social media that Slack claims “incite hostility.” Slack referenced a post on Libs of TikTok that claimed Boston Children’s institution was “providing gender-affirming hysterectomies for young girls.” While this was a factual statement, it caused a great deal of resentment towards the institution.

“Libs of TikTok has a certain audience, and they are taking this material and broadcasting it to that specific audience so that everyone in that audience sees it at the same time,” Slack explained before the Committee, citing this as the reason it is problematic.

“Remember what they are saying: They are stating that the main worry is that conservative readers are seeing Libs of TikTok’s postings,” Cruz clarified. “Libs on TikTok’s posts—the majority of which are retweets of lefty posts—do not even purport to offend them.” Simply put, they find it offensive that conservatives are really reading or watching what you publish.

The creator of TikTok, Chaya Raichik’s Libs, stated that her team utilized Slack on a regular basis and that dealing with its sudden service termination was “very challenging” for the business. It had to quickly establish a new method of communication in addition to losing all of its earlier exchanges without warning and without a chance to appeal.

600 students had already registered for tickets to the Stanford University screening of “What Is a Woman?” when Eventbrite canceled the event, leading the research to conclude that suspension of service is frequently disruptive for conservative groups. Only a few days before the event, Eventbrite restricted access, completely destabilizing the entire infrastructure for attendance.

Matt Walsh, whose documentary film was the impetus for Eventbrite’s actions, claims that Cruz’s inquiry validates conservatives’ long-standing concerns.

Walsh stated on Thursday that “Conservatives have long feared they are being deplatformed for bogus, politically driven reasons.” “This congressional inquiry substantiates it.”

Cruz’s investigation also discovered that exclusively conservative groups are the targets of this kind of action. The committee discovered that whereas Libs of TikTok are no longer able to use Slack’s services, organizations like Antifa and Crimethinc—a group that publishes step-by-step instructions for committing crimes—continue to have operational Slack accounts.

Additionally, after Eventbrite canceled the “What Is A Woman?” and Gaines events, it has promoted events honoring the terrorist strikes against Israel by Hamas.

According to Cruz, “Eventbrite is glad to host them; they see no issue with their ‘hateful events policy’ having such blatantly violent, anti-Semitic stuff.” Nevertheless, Matt Walsh is obviously above the pale.
