Before entering his business records trial on Thursday, former President Trump committed to his campaign platform, announcing plans to host historic rallies at the Madison Square Garden and the Bronx.
The last Republican presidential campaign to revolve around the Bronx took place in 1984, when Ronald Reagan won with a landslide.
Regarding New York State, Trump declared, “I think we have an excellent chance of winning here, and we are going to give it a tremendous plan.” “We are holding a rally in the South Bronx.”
“We think we are going to do a rally at Madison Square Garden,” Trump continued.
Teachers, firemen, and police officers will be the main targets of the demonstrations. Trump declared, “We will be recognizing the folks that make New York work.” “We think we have a pretty strong chance of winning, but it will be really thrilling.”
Additionally, Trump stuck to his platform by criticizing Joe Biden’s expensive economy, his open borders policy, and the anti-Israel demonstrations taking place near America’s “elite” institutions.
Drawing a comparison between the police manning the Manhattan courtroom and the college campuses, Trump stated, “[Police] would want to be at the colleges” to safeguard the campuses “because what is occurring at the colleges is a disgrace.” In the five blocks around this sealed courtroom, there is not a single person. Additional police are patrolling this area.
The former president went on, “This is the worst-run country in the world right now.” “All you have to do is look at the millions of individuals entering mental health and prison facilities at a rate we have never seen before.”
Trump declared, “I am going to walk in now and sit in front of a case — election meddling.” “However, from what I’ve seen, it seems to be increasing my poll numbers.”
On Wednesday, a Morning Consult/Bloomberg survey revealed that Trump had reversed Biden’s recent gains in national polls by outperforming Biden in battleground states. It concluded that Trump is leading in six of the seven swing state contests in 2024, indicating his ongoing superiority over Biden.
One of Trump’s opponents in the establishment, Karl Rove, who is associated with Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), praised the messages he sent out. Regarding Trump’s on-message strategy, Rove said to Fox News, “He has done this multiple times before.” “Whoever is giving him advice on this should get a gold star because it is sound counsel.”
“It is preferable for him to seize opportunities like this, arriving and offering commentary on current events,” Rove said, “instead of focusing solely on his own emotions [relating to the criminal trial].” ” And we’ve already heard once or twice how strongly he feels about this — about his treatment in this matter,” he said. “We do not require further hearings about it.”
