Marc Elias, the infamous election lawyer best known for doing Hillary Clinton and the DNC's dirty work, went on MSNBC and absolutely lost his mind after getting steamrolled in the redistricting wars. Tennessee just became the ninth state to approve new congressional maps, and Elias — the guy who claims he's the most feared lawyer in Republican politics — looked like a man watching his empire crumble on live television.
You love to see it, folks.
Host Nicolle Wallace, clearly sensing the desperation, told Elias, "I've not heard you this angry in a long time," before asking him to "share with us how this scrambles your workload." Translation: please explain to our twelve viewers why you keep losing. Elias, red-faced and rattled, fired back with "Have we learned nothing?" and "Have people not learned that when you do this to black voters it turns out bad for democracy for everybody?" Classic. When Democrats lose on the merits, suddenly it's an attack on "democracy."
Here's what actually happened. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed a new congressional map into law that eliminated the state's only majority-Black district in Memphis. The Supreme Court already torched Louisiana's gerrymandered maps in the cases of State of Louisiana v. Phillip Callais and Press Robinson v. Phillip Callais. Alabama got new maps too. Nine states and counting, and Elias is running out of courtrooms to cry in.
But the real comedy gold came from Elias's social media meltdown on May 10th, where he posted what can only be described as a desperate résumé update. "I defeated Trump and his allies more than 60 times in court when he tried to steal the 2020 election," he wrote. "When Trump sued me for RICO in 2022, I didn't settle. I fought and won. He and the GOP hate me because I fight. They fear me because I win."
They fear him because he wins. Someone should tell Marc that the guy who just lost Tennessee, Louisiana, and Alabama doesn't get to brag about his win-loss record. That's like a boxer who got knocked out in the first round telling everyone about the fights he won in 2019.
The Gateway Pundit's Cristina Laila reported on the full meltdown, and honestly, the whole thing reads like a man who knows the game is over. The Democrats built their entire congressional strategy around racial gerrymandering — carving up districts based on skin color and then screaming racism when anyone tried to draw fair maps. The courts are finally calling that bluff, and Elias is the guy left holding the bag.
What makes this especially delicious is that Elias wasn't ambushed on Fox News. He wasn't grilled by a hostile interviewer. He erupted on MSNBC — the friendliest possible territory for a Democrat operative. Nicolle Wallace practically handed him a therapy pillow, and he still couldn't keep it together.
Nine states down. More maps coming. And Hillary's top legal attack dog just showed the whole country that he knows the redistricting war is over — and his side lost.
