The State Department is organizing an international coalition to combat far-left terrorism — a first-of-its-kind effort that essentially admits what we've been screaming about for a decade. Far-left terror is real, it's global, and the previous administration couldn't have cared less because they were too busy investigating parents at school board meetings.
Better late than never. Way, way better.
The Trump administration is reportedly leveraging counterterrorism tools against radical left-wing groups operating across the United States, Europe, East Asia, and the Western Hemisphere. A senior State Department official told the outlet, "America First means protecting our country, people, and way of life — we are leveraging counterterrorism tools" to go after these groups.
The numbers are staggering once you actually bother to count. Germany tracked 10,300 far-left actors in 2021. By 2022, that number had exploded to 36,500. Groups like Antifa Ost in Germany, the Informal Anarchist Federation in Italy, and Armed Proletarian Justice and Revolutionary Class Self-Defense in Greece have been running wild while Western governments obsessed over "right-wing extremism."
The body count tells the story the media won't. In 2026, a 23-year-old French man named Quentin Deranque was beaten to death for his political beliefs. In January 2026, a far-left attack on Berlin's power grid caused a five-day outage affecting more than 100,000 residents. Italy faced 18 terrorist attacks in 2024 alone. Over 80% of violent events by radical organizations in Greece involved far-left groups, and more than 20 far-left individuals were arrested there in 2024.
But sure, tell us again how MAGA grandmas are the real threat.
The State Department official described the scope of the problem bluntly: "A lot of these pro-Hamas, very violent groups that are operating in all of our respective countries" need to be confronted head-on. The department has been meeting with international partners to "build a body" of coordinated intelligence and enforcement.
Data from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data project, known as ACLED, shows far-left terrorism has been surging sharply since 2016. That's a full decade of escalation that the Obama and Biden administrations essentially ignored while the FBI was busy classifying traditional Catholics as potential domestic terrorists.
The administration is planning a law enforcement workshop in Europe that's already underway, with a higher-level conference set for Washington, D.C. this summer. The State Department official previewed the agenda: "We're going to talk about what this threat stream looks like, what kind of targets that it's engaging in."
For years, we watched Antifa burn down city blocks, attack federal courthouses, and assault people in the streets while the media called them "mostly peaceful" and politicians pretended they didn't exist. We watched pro-Hamas mobs shut down universities and terrorize Jewish students while campus administrators wrung their hands.
Now the adults are back in charge and they're doing what should have been done years ago — naming the enemy and building a global coalition to crush it. Vindication tastes sweet. But it'll taste even sweeter when the handcuffs start clicking.
