Democrats in Los Angeles have been caught red-handed paying homeless residents of Skid Row cash to vote for their preferred candidates — and the people who took the money are now on camera talking about it like it's the most normal thing in the world. So much for "protecting democracy."
You really have to admire the audacity. The same party that spent four years shrieking about "election integrity" and calling anyone who questioned a ballot count a domestic terrorist is out here handing crisp bills to the most vulnerable people in America like it's a drive-through window. Would you like fries with your felony?
Kevin Shepherd, a Skid Row resident, told reporters he was initially offered $2 to cast a vote but — credit where it's due — negotiated his price up to $4. "They gave you an optional choice," Shepherd explained. Optional. That's a funny word for a federal crime. Another resident, 39-year-old Rene Johnson, admitted pocketing $5 for her vote, though she claimed ignorance: "But, you know, at the time, I didn't know that that was going on." Sure you didn't, Rene.
An unidentified woman on the street was even more blunt about the whole arrangement. "It was like two bucks," she said, adding that the operatives "come out here all the time." All the time. Not a one-off. Not a rogue volunteer. A routine operation at the corner of 7th Street and Flower Street in downtown Los Angeles.
The footage, originally posted to the TikTok account LaneNeedsSpencerPratt, shows multiple Skid Row residents casually confirming they were paid by Democrat operatives. The videos have since been compiled and sent to the Department of Justice as evidence. We'll see if Merrick Garland's replacement actually does something with it — though I'm not holding my breath for anyone in Washington to care about vote buying when it benefits the right team.
The payments appear tied to the Los Angeles mayoral race, where progressive darling Nithya Raman is challenging incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. Spencer Pratt is running as the Republican in the race. And here's where it gets even juicier: a Venice homeless shelter where 185 Raman voters were registered received $600,000 in taxpayer funding. So we're not just talking about pocket change on the sidewalk. We're talking about a pipeline — taxpayer-funded shelters doubling as voter registration mills for a specific candidate, with cash payments greasing the wheels.
Mail-in ballot irregularities were also flagged in connection with the scheme, according to Townhall's Matt Vespa, who broke the story wide open. Because of course mail-in ballots are involved. They always are.
Let's be crystal clear about what happened here. Democrats paid homeless people — people sleeping on concrete, people struggling with addiction, people the left claims to champion every election cycle — literal pocket change to vote for their candidates. Not $500. Not $50. Two to five dollars. That's what your vote is worth to the Democratic machine: less than a combo meal.
And these aren't allegations from some opposition research firm. These are the voters themselves, on camera, telling you exactly what happened. They're not ashamed. They're not hiding. They're matter-of-fact about it because to them, it's just another Tuesday on Skid Row.
The next time a Democrat lectures you about "threats to democracy," just remember: their version of democracy costs four bucks and a trip to the corner of 7th and Flower.
