Democrat Mayor Desperate To Leave Crime-Ridden City, Blames 2nd Amendment

The crime wave taking over most Democrat-controlled cities is causing mass hysteria amongst residents and elected officials alike.

An adherence to Democrats’ woke pandering has handcuffed law enforcement units across the country after ‘Defund the Police’ became a major party platform. Since then, crime has usurped America’s largest cities leaving many vulnerable to the violent acts of crazed lunatics.

You would think Democrat officials in crime-ridden cities would ramp up policing efforts, as former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani did in the early 90s — but no. Democrats are unable to publicly support an increased police presence on city streets as that would buck the current party line.

As a result, Democrat city officials are throwing in the towel and giving up on the idea that positive change can occur with simple adjustments in law enforcement tactics.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said Tuesday that he will be happy when he leaves office, just one day after a shooting injured two police officers during the city’s Fourth of July festivities.

Kenney, a Democrat elected in 2015, said the recent increase in gun violence across the country has left him constantly worried about shootings occurring at major city events.

Without evidence, Kenney went on to blame the U.S. Constitution and the Supreme Court for an uptick in gun violence. He failed to acknowledge that a lack of police presence could be to blame for the crime wave hitting Democrat-controlled cities.

But the comments attracted backlash from some lawmakers, with even some members of his own party calling on him to resign.

“We are all exhausted by the level of gun violence in our City. However, our City needs someone now with the passion and vision to lead us forward. Resign,” tweeted Councilman Derek Green, a Democrat.

Monday’s shooting in Philadelphia, one of two high-profile mass shootings that occurred in the United States that day, took place outside the city’s art museum. Two officers were wounded after they were grazed by bullets on their heads and shoulders. Both officers were released Tuesday morning, Kenney tweeted.

Philadelphia saw 267 homicides this year, as of Monday. However, the city has seen a decrease in homicides this year, with a 5% decline from Jan. 1 to July 4 as compared to the same figures year to date in 2021, according to police data.

A separate mass shooting occurred in Highland Park, Illinois, on Monday morning, killing six people and wounding at least 38 others during the city’s Fourth of July parade.

Let’s make one thing clear: No amount of tragedy, whether it be mass shootings or otherwise, justifies stripping Americans of their Second Amendment rights; that’s simply not how ‘rights’ work.
