RFK Jr Campaign Scores Massive Win

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, announced on Thursday that he has qualified to appear on the ballot for the general election in Michigan, a key 2024 battleground state.

According to a news release from Team Kennedy, Kennedy and his running companion, Nicole Shanahan, will be listed as nominees for the Natural Law Party on the Michigan ballot. The party has already submitted all the required documentation to be included on the ballot. In the midst of a repeat of the 2020 election between the presumed Democratic and Republican nominees, the independent candidate is positioning himself for voters as a strong rival to Biden and Trump.

In the contemporary annals of American politics, Natural Law Party Chairman Doug Dern referred to Kennedy as “the most competent candidate.” “Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Shanahan are welcome to the celebration.”

Established in 1992, the Natural Law Party aims to “resolve issues at their core by bringing individual life and our national policies into better harmony with natural law through tested educational initiatives, natural, renewable energy, preventive health care, sustainable agriculture, and other progressive, prevention-focused programs,” as stated on their website.

According to his campaign, Michigan is the third swing state where Kennedy will be on the ballot. According to Team Kennedy, he is also eligible to appear on the ballot in Nevada and North Carolina, two states where polls currently show Trump with a narrow lead over Biden.

The outcome of the Michigan election in 2024 could significantly impact who takes the oath of office on January 20, 2025. Democrats stated earlier this month that Michigan is one of three states the party is depending on to help Biden win in 2024, along with Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Kennedy’s eligibility to vote in Michigan, however, would put yet another barrier in the way of the president’s victory in the Great Lakes State, where a sizable portion of the Muslim community is already opposing Biden’s reelection because they disagree with his backing for Israel in its conflict with Hamas. In the Democratic primary in Michigan, almost 100,000 people (13.2%) cast “uncommitted” ballots against Biden.

As of now, the RealClearPolitics polling average shows that Trump leads Biden in Michigan by a margin of more than three points. With RFK Jr., Jill Stein of the Green Party, and Cornel West of the independent party added to the race, RCP indicates that Trump leads Biden by less than two points on a national level.

Shanahan is a lawyer and Democratic contributor who was selected as Kennedy’s running mate last month. Shanahan, the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, contributed $150,000 to the campaign of leftist LA County DA George Gascon, as well as at least $300,000 to a coalition of activist groups and nonprofits seeking to pass a voter referendum “to divest from policing and incarceration” in L.A. County. Shanahan also supported President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign against Trump.

Trump denounced Kennedy as “the most radical Left contender in the campaign,” but he also stated that it would be “a wonderful service to America” for him to receive support for his candidacy from “Crooked Joe Biden.”
