America imposed sanctions against several Chinese entities this month following reports of the communist nation’s development of emergent biotechnology that aims to be the first “brain-control weaponry” in the world, amongst other technological advancements that U.S. national security deems a serious risk.
National security correspondent Jennifer Griffin of Fox News reported that China is currently leveraging combined technologies such as “gene editing, and brain machine interfaces” meant to enhance combatants military capabilities towards “control [of] its own people.” In response, the Biden Administration has levied sanctions against 37 Chinese biotech companies with ties to the terrifying research which experts claim includes ‘mind control weapons.’
John Ratcliffe, former Director of National Intelligence, said that America has never considered using the same unethical practices that China is embracing. He added that America will never place its service members “at risk, which is… [what] the Chinese are willing to do.” He warned that China is willing to “advance at any costs, including [measures] that are harmful to their own population.”
According to the Pentagon, Beijing has already deployed some of these technologies, such as biometric surveillance and facial recognition devises which track journalists and dissidents, as well as suppress the Uyghur population.
Earlier this month, the U.S. Commerce Department announced sanctions against businesses based in China, as well as other in Turkey, Georgia, and Malaysia, for developing “technologies for military applications and human rights abuses.” The rule from the Commerce Department adds that “purported brain-control weaponry” is amongst the reasons for the sanctions.
Gina M. Raimondo, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce said that the People’s Republic of China is choosing to abuse “biotechnology and medical innovation” that should be used to save lives rather than “pursue control over its people.” She added that the U.S. cannot allow such technologies that pervert medical science and directly threaten our national security.
