Pelosi Makes The Announcement The Far-Left Has Waited For

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) declared Thursday that she is not going to run for reelection as the House Democrat leader.

“I will continue to do this as a member of the House, advocating for the people of San Francisco, serving the wonderful state of California, and safeguarding our Constitution,” Pelosi said on the House floor. “With absolute confidence in our caucus, I won’t be seeking reelection to Democratic leadership in the upcoming Congress.”

“The time has come for a new generation to head the Democratic Caucus, which I hold in high regard,” she continued.

Pelosi resigns as the House Democratic leader after GOP retake the house in the midterm elections. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is the Republican candidate to take the place of Pelosi as House Speaker. McCarthy needs 218 votes on the House floor by early 2023, at the start of the next Congress, to achieve this goal.

Pelosi has served as House Speaker two times and has represented her California seat since 1987.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) may succeed Pelosi as House Democratic leader. Earlier on Thursday, it was reported that Pelosi would remain in Congress but quit leadership to help direct Jeffries, her preferred successor, as he enters Democratic leadership.
