1,160 Voters Registered at a 120-Bed Shelter — LA's Election Math Doesn't Add Up

A New York Post investigation has revealed that roughly 7,600 voters in Los Angeles were registered at homeless shelters, supportive housing facilities, and service providers — many of which don't even have beds — and the result just happened to flip the mayoral primary away from the Republican candidate. What a coincidence.

Nothing suspicious here, folks. Just a democratic socialist who funded a drop-in center with $600,000 in taxpayer money and then magically watched 185 voters materialize at that same address right before the election. Totally normal.

Let's rewind. Spencer Pratt was running for mayor of Los Angeles as a Republican, and on election night he was sitting pretty in second place, headed for a November runoff against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. Then the late ballots rolled in. City Councilmember Nithya Raman, a self-described democratic socialist who chaired the city's Housing and Homelessness Committee, leapfrogged Pratt by thousands of votes. Raman finished at 28.55% to Pratt's 25.83%, with Bass leading at 34.32%.

The Post's investigation into those late ballots uncovered something rotten. The Midnight Mission on Skid Row had 1,160 registered voters tied to its address. Its website says the facility has beds for 84 men and 36 women. That's 120 beds and 1,160 voters. I'm no MIT mathematician, but those numbers don't work.

Then there's the St. Joseph Center in Venice. It's a drop-in center. No overnight accommodations. Zero beds. Yet 185 voters were registered there. And here's where it gets really fun — the St. Joseph Center received $600,000 in taxpayer-funded grants while Raman chaired the very committee that controls that money. A photograph showing Raman presenting a check to the center was reportedly scrubbed from the organization's website after the Post started asking questions.

Deleting evidence is what innocent people do, obviously.

The homeless themselves are talking. Martin Rowe, a homeless man in Venice, told the New York Post about the registration drive: "They asked you all the questions. They gave you a paper." A Skid Row resident identified only as Norman put it more bluntly: "It was a big push to get a certain area of town registered to voting."

A big push. By whom? For whom? The ballots that flipped Pratt out of the runoff came from exactly these areas — the shelters, the drop-in centers, the encampments where "outreach workers" were handing out registration forms like candy.

U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli has announced a federal review of the situation. "We will follow the evidence," Essayli said. Good. Because the evidence is screaming.

As Liz Wheeler noted on her Blaze TV show, what we're looking at is a pattern: a politician who controls taxpayer funding to homeless organizations, those same organizations becoming voter registration factories, and then a suspicious late-ballot surge that just happens to benefit that politician. In any other context, we'd call that what it is.

The left will scream that homeless people have every right to vote. Fine. Nobody's arguing that. What we're arguing is that you can't register 1,160 voters at a shelter with 120 beds and pretend that's legitimate. You can't funnel $600,000 to a facility and then harvest ballots from its address. You can't scrub photos from websites when reporters come knocking and expect us to believe everything's on the up-and-up.

Spencer Pratt may be a reality TV personality, but the real show is playing out in LA's voter rolls. And unlike "The Hills," this fraud isn't scripted — it's just sloppy enough to get caught.
