Rittenhouse Verdict Rattles O’Rourke — Sends Him Into Gun-Grabbing Panic Mode

Former Texas Representative Beto O’Rourke (D), who failed as a senatorial and presidential candidate but is now making a bid at governor for Texas, made an appearance on CNN where he was predictably asked about his opinion on the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse. O’Rourke, never one for original ideas, turned his frustration over the case into a rant about gun control.

CNN host Dana Bash asked O’Rourke for a reaction, and he said that the Rittenhouse case is an example of why Americans should not be allowed “to own and use weapons… designed for battlefield use.”

O’Rourke claims that weapons such as AK-47’s and AR-15’s have no useful purpose aside from killing people “effectively… efficiently.. in great number… in as little time as possible.” O’Rourke then compared Rittenhouse’s self-defense to an instance of mass-shooting. O’Rourke said that it’s “crazy” to allow such weapons in the hands of ordinary citizens and added that “we don’t have to.”

O’Rourke’s claims completely fail to make contact with reality, since Rittenhouse’s weapon shot three people in self defense and killed two. Rittenhouse’s case was also clearly not one of attempting to murder as many people as possible as quickly as possible, as suggested by O’Rourke when he references “we saw that in Kenosha.”

This isn’t the first time O’Rourke has gone on an unhinged tirade against modern sporting rifles. The multiple-times failed political pundit made headlines during his 2020 presidential campaign run when he said: “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47” when asked about how he felt about gun control.

A clip of his statement was played by Dana Bash, who asked him if he still felt the same way. He confirmed.

O’Rourke claims that the pro-Second Amendment positions of current Texas governor Greg Abbott are “extremist” in nature and need to be taken down. He added that he believes in protecting the Second Amendment, but thinks that defending modern sporting weapons constitutes “extremism.”

It’s painfully obvious what priority number one is for Mr. O’Rourke should he find himself in any position of power. He’s coming for America’s guns, and he’s in no mood to compromise.
