President Joe Biden has been under fire from a number of Republicans for declaring March 31 to be Transgender Day of Visibility, which falls on the same day as Easter this year.
The WH issued the proclamation on Friday, urging people to “join us in bringing up the lives and voices of transgender persons throughout our nation” on what is considered to be the most holy day for Christians.
“To all transgender Americans, we deliver this message today:” In his declaration, Biden stated. “I love you. We have heard you. We understand you. You are welcome. America is you, and I, along with my whole administration, have your back.
Since Easter falls on March 31 in 2024, Biden—a Catholic—has already designated March 31 to be Transgender Day of Visibility in 2021, 2022, and 2023. However, a number of lawmakers and internet celebrities criticized Biden for his declaration.
With his declaration, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) asserted on Saturday that Biden had “betrayed the core concept of Easter.”
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the core principle of Easter, and the Biden White House has compromised this belief. It is absurd and disgusting to forbid both religious truth and custom while also designating Easter Sunday as “Transgender Day.” Johnson said in a post on X that “the American people are taking attention” and cited a rumor that the White House had prohibited religious designs from entering an Easter egg contest.
The campaign of former president Donald Trump also attacked Biden, characterizing the two acts as “appalling and demeaning.”
Karoline Leavitt, the press secretary for the Trump campaign, released a statement saying, “It is outrageous and offensive that Joe Biden’s White House prevented children from submitting religious egg designs for their Easter Art Event and publicly named Easter Sunday as ‘Trans Day of Visibility.’” Unfortunately, these are only two more instances of the long-running attack on Christianity by the Biden Administration.
She said, “We demand an apology from the Biden White House and his collapsing campaign to the millions of Christians who think tomorrow is for one celebration—the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
In a post on X on Saturday, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) stated that “the only thing to announce on Easter Sunday is Alleluia, He Is Risen.”
The head of the House Republican Conference, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), referred to Biden’s declaration as shameful.
Stefanik said on X, “Joe Biden says Easter Sunday is transgender visibility day as he removes Christian elements from the White House Easter egg roll.” ” Absurd. The celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection will always be associated with Easter.
Every Easter since he took office, Biden has made remarks, and this Sunday is no different. On Monday, he will host the traditional Easter egg roll at the White House.
