Republican Lawmaker Forces Biden’s Hand With Clever New Bill

U.S. Representative Matt Rosendale (R-MT) introduced legislation on Tuesday that would block the United States from offering military aid to Ukraine until the U.S.-Mexico border is properly secured.

The “Secure America’s Border First Act,” if passed, would prevent the U.S. from offering monetary or military commitments to Kyiv in helping them stave off a Russian invasion, until “operational control” of the U.S.-Mexico border is in place.

Rosendale said: “I think it’s quite hypocritical if someone in the U.S. Congress is willing to expend the funds to secure a border overseas thousands of miles away while they’re not willing to secure our own border. And we are witnessing not a threat, but we are witnessing an absolute invasion that is taking place right now.”

“We have war hawks on both sides of the aisle willing to go over there and spend American blood and treasure in Ukraine,” Rosendale continued, “What I’m saying is we’re not obligated and so at least the minimum we can do is secure our own border first if you are going to go over there and spend money.”

According to the bill’s stipulation, no funds can be provided to Ukraine until the federal government meets the standards of “operational control” at the southern border in accordance with the 2006 Secure Fence Act.

Rosendale noted that over two million individuals tried to illegally cross the southern border last year alone, with no sure figures as to how many successfully crossed into the U.S. He added that a border wall is necessary to achieve basic security of the U.S. homeland, and said that after that’s completed, then it’s time to talk about “securing someone else’s border.”

During former President Donald Trump’s campaign in 2016, securing the southern border was a key focus of his platform. After winning the election, Trump immediately began efforts towards “construction of a physical wall.” Trump poured resources into securing the U.S.-Mexico border and enforcement of the country’s immigration laws.

Democrat President Biden, upon entering the Oval Office, immediately undid all of Trump’s efforts via executive order and significantly worsened the situation at the border. Furthermore, the Biden Administration has given preferential treatment to illegal aliens, being granted taxpayer-funded rides deep into America’s interior, offered enormous sums of taxpayer money, and are even allowed to commit violent crimes without fear of deportation.

Biden’s complete disregard for immigration law has placed the safety and health of law enforcement officials at significantly heightened risk, with 2021 being the worst year on record for law-enforcement deaths in history.
