Over the weekend, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) stated that FBI Director Christopher Wray had verified to him the existence of a trafficking network that brings illegal aliens into the country with links to ISIS.
Rubio made the comments when talking about ISIS-K’s horrific terrorist assault in Moscow late last week, which claimed the lives of well over a hundred people, in an interview that aired on ABC News’ “This Week” on Sunday.
According to Rubio, “ISIS-K, or ISIS-Khorasan, is primarily the Afghan wing of ISIS.” As we said would happen after our catastrophic retreat from Afghanistan, it has now rebuilt itself. You gave them operational room to regroup and make external plans, which is one of the reasons we did not want to go quickly. And they have launched attacks inside Afghanistan ever since.
During President Joe Biden’s catastrophic 2021 withdrawal from the country, Rubio pointed out that ISIS-K was behind the devastating suicide explosion at Kabul International Airport that claimed the lives of thirteen American servicemen.
They also carried out a significant strike in Iran not so long ago, which claimed over 80 lives.
Rubio remarked, “And they will do it here in the homeland.” “The FBI director assured me that there is a wing to the trafficking network that specializes in relocating individuals, therefore, I believe we should be really worried.” They relocate individuals and migrants with ties to ISIS all around the world, including across our southern border, for financial gain.
“I believe common sense tells you that they would most definitely utilize it to transport operatives into the United States if they ran a human trafficking network,” he said. Therefore, although I am not suggesting that the United States is in immediate danger, I am stating that the border issue and the network’s presence pose a threat to the country. If they were able to achieve what they did in Moscow, they would take immediate action. They are eager to participate.
Rubio pointed out that while “ISIS was largely out of business” under previous President Donald Trump, “they have reestablished themselves” under the weak Biden government.
“And part of it is that they may now operate freely once we leave Afghanistan and are no longer obligated to carry out frequent operations there. The Taliban can’t defeat them, no matter how badly they want to. They are not capable of doing it,” he remarked. And it appears that these folks have a base of operations. They require real estate. They want territory and locations where they may scheme externally and organize.”
“They can now enter Iran much more easily. He said, “It is much easier for them to enter Russia and carry out these activities. However, they have goals that reach beyond Iran and Russia. They would love to conduct their Moscow-style operations here in the United States. And since 9 million individuals have crossed our border in the previous three years, it is something we need to be really careful about.
