Next Week, the House Judiciary Committee will hear testimony from FBI Director Christopher Wray, the committee confirmed this week.
The purpose of the hearing, according to a notice issued by the committee, would be to “look into the politicization of the nation’s foremost law enforcement department under the leadership of FBI Director Christopher Wray along with Attorney General Merrick Garland.”
The hearing will start at 10:00 a.m. on July 12th.
It will be Wray’s first public testimony to the committee following the committee’s review of records documenting an FBI informant’s claims that President Biden as well as his son Hunter Biden each received $5 million coming from a Ukrainian oligarch in exchange for, among other things, aiding him in resolving legal issues.
It is also going to be the first hearing after the publication of recordings from two IRS whistleblowers who claimed that the Justice Dept. under Biden obstructed their inquiries into Hunter Biden. The transcripts were obtained by the House Ways and Means Committee.
Gary Shapley, one of the whistleblowers, said that the FBI only managed to secure one interview because it had previously informed Joe and Hunter Biden’s presidential transition team of its plan to question prospective witnesses.
Additionally, according to Shapley, Delaware Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf allegedly told the FBI, “I do not wish to talk about the big guy,” while the FBI was looking into Hunter Biden’s involvement. “I’m not going to inquire about dad. Never inquire about the big guy.”
According to the second anonymous whistleblower, “we wanted to get location data” to determine whether Hunter Biden was indeed seated right next to Joe Biden when he sent a threatening text to a Chinese business associate that read:
“My father and I are seated here and we want to know why the agreement made hasn’t been kept. … And Z, I promise you that you’ll regret not following my order if I receive a call or text from anybody involved with the matter other than you, Zhang, or the chairman thanks to the man sitting beside me and everyone he knows as well as my capacity to retain a grudge forever. I happen to be sitting here with my father waiting for your call.”
The informant stated:
“I’m not sure if the FBI ever used it, but I would assume it’s a road we’d want to consider going down or that we could potentially go down, and the motive for that is that if President Biden was receiving any source of income, whether or not it’s by means of someone else’s entity or simply for the benefit of himself at some point in time, that might be considered income — so that is why it would be important to us.”
Democrats on the committee are anticipated to intercede on behalf of the White House, at the same time Republican committee members will likely want to get Wray’s responses to those inquiries.
