Democrats are having trouble getting their radical Green New Deal through the democratic process, so they are now asking President Biden to use abstract threats and real deaths to help them get what they want.
Climate alarmists who wanted to pass laws that would give the government more power at the expense of the people were not at all appeased by the past year’s “Inflation Reduction Act,” which gave the government the power to shell out well over $600 billion on renewable energy and environmental change projects.
In July 2022, Senator Edward Markey (D-Mass. ), Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), along with other leftist Democrat senators wrote a letter to Biden saying, “For longer than necessary, we have been patiently waiting for just one piece of legislation as well as a single Senate vote that would take bold action on the nation’s climate crisis…. Because of this, we want you to treat the climate problem as an emergency and use your power as president to solve it quickly.”
Leftists in Washington, D.C., haven’t gotten everything they wanted yet, so they are now trying to get Biden to declare a national climate emergency by pointing to the wildfires in Hawaii. These fires seem to have been mostly caused by carelessness and the Democrats’ failed green plan.
In a statement to Politico, Markey, who was one of the people who wrote the original Green New Deal bill, said, “The destruction in Maui is an obvious indication that the president must officially declare an urgent climate emergency — now.”
“Even though FEMA is giving help to the local heroes who are fighting for the lives and livelihoods of Hawaiians, the extreme heat, environmental injustice, drought, and non-resilient infrastructure that are caused by climate change will still be there,” said Markey.
Representative Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) also said, “This represents a crisis, and we have to treat it as such. That begins with President Biden announcing a national climate emergency. This will make a lot of government resources as well as emergency powers available to help neighborhoods prepare to deal with and fully recover from these deadly climate disasters.”
The 80-year-old president asserted that “practically speaking,” he had already made such a proclamation when the Weather Network questioned him about it earlier this month.
Biden spent the last of his more than 365 holiday days as president at the home of a wealthy climate alarmist in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He said, “We have already accomplished that. We’ve saved more land, and we’ve taken steps toward getting back into the Paris Climate Accord. We have a temperature control building that cost $60 billion.”
