The Biden administration finds itself in another fiscal scandal as the baby formula aisle in most grocery stores remains utterly desolate. Mothers across America are struggling for alternative solutions to feed their children as Biden’s crack team of economic geniuses scramble for a quick fix.
In a move that will likely alleviate the nationwide formula shortage, Biden’s FDA struck a deal with Abbott, a baby food company, after their Sturgis, Michigan factory shuddered.
On Monday, the company announced it reached an agreement with the Food and Drug Administration after the government agency closed the factory in February. Abbott was forced to halt formula production at the Sturgis factory after several formula brands caused severe illness due to bacterial infections. Two infants died as a result of the outbreak.
The factory’s closing in addition to Biden’s supply chain crisis caused a nationwide shortage of baby formula that the Democrats are desperate to rectify. Their shot of picking up any victories in November is reliant upon their ability to alleviate this crisis.
“Our number one priority is getting infants and families the high-quality formulas they need, and this is a major step toward re-opening our Sturgis facility so we can ease the nationwide formula shortage,” Abbott CEO Robert Ford said.
Biden urged his FDA and CDC to reconsider their decision to close the Sturgis factory, asking them to conduct additional investigations with solutions on how to resume production. Upon further investigation, the CDC determined that the bacteria responsible for the previous outbreak was only found in non-product contact areas of the plant. They also concluded that the bacteria responsible for an outbreak of infections did not match the strains found in Abbott’s plant.
Meanwhile, even if Abbott were to resume production immediately, products would not hit the shelves for another six to eight weeks. Still, mothers across the country can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that formula will be restocked soon enough.
