The Biden administration has been engaged in a campaign to close down gun shops, as reported in a post by Gun Owners of America.
The article described how the Biden administration implemented a “Zero Tolerance” policy in 2021, which resulted in FFLs losing their licenses to sell firearms (Federal Firearm Licensees). In order to reflect this new policy change, the ATF has updated its “Federal Firearms Administrative Action Policy and Procedures.”
In addition to the earlier version that existed under the presidency of then-President Donald Trump, GOA was able to secure copies of the new ATF directive that the Biden administration altered in January 2022.
It is evident from a review of revisions to ATF policy that the Biden Administration wants to use ATF’s bureaucracy as a weapon against the whole Second Amendment sector.
The revised Zero Tolerance policy of the Biden administration, according to GOA, is punitive toward law-abiding gun retailers.
The ATF field offices in Charlotte, Houston, Columbus, Louisville, St. Paul, and New Orleans, often revoked licenses from gun dealers instead of holding “warning conferences” between January and September 2022. The ATF’s guideline states that warning conferences, a lesser punishment, are required to “evaluate the FFL’s potential to achieve compliance and identify any potential threats to public safety and weapon traceability.”
The ATF’s Zero Tolerance policy resulted in a 200% increase in FFL cancellations. The requirement that gun retailers that are closing their doors provide the ATF every Firearm Transaction document (Form 4473), together with its “bound book” and other documents, is one of the Zero Tolerance policy’s more cunning features.
As of November 2021, ATF had successfully transformed 920,664,765 of these records into a national, illegitimate system of gun registration. 865,787,086 records, according to the ATF, are in electronic form. This information has “proven to be searchable, digital, and centralized—in violation of federal law,” according to GOA.
This is just one of the many risks associated with continuing to operate the ATF. The existence of the ATF gives the most authoritarian political figures the ability to utilize their tremendous authority to harass millions of legal gun owners and ultimately repeal the Second Amendment.
