Finally, a little punch back from the America First crowd!
House Republicans aligned with Donald Trump and his America First agenda won’t allow the Jan. 6 Witch Hunt Committee to broadcast their hyper-partisan political theater without rebuttal.
The America First coalition of lawmakers plans to set the record straight ahead of Thursday’s show trials, where the House Select Committee will disclose their findings to the public.
Reps. Jim Banks of Indiana and Jim Jordan of Ohio – two lawmakers rejected from the Committee — will address the media on Thursday at 10:45 am in the hopes of addressing the public before the trials kick-off. Minority Whip Steve Scalise, Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, and Republican Conference Secretary Richard Hudson are also scheduled to appear.
The Capitol Hill stakeout will take place after the House Republican conference’s weekly meeting. The Jan. 6 committee’s summer hearings, set to begin Thursday, will be just one topic lawmakers discuss, a spokesperson revealed. Rep. Scalise said previously the purpose of the stakeout is “not a prebuttal” to the Jan. 6 hearings, but a summation of the current problems within the federal government.
Still, Stefanik, the third-ranking Republican in the House, and Donald Trump’s rumored 2024 VP pick is promising a wider-scale campaign to pick apart the efforts of the Jan. 6 panel.
“I am working closely with President Trump, Leader Kevin McCarthy, Jim Jordan, and my colleagues to help lead House Republicans in pushing back against lame-duck Speaker Pelosi’s sham political witch hunt,” Stefanik told Fox News.
It’s like music to the ears!
According to Rep. Stefanik, she and other leading America First Republicans are planning a media blitz and other television appearances in addition to the Capitol Stakeout.
Members of the Jan. 6 panel have signaled they intend to draw a line connecting Trump’s efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election to the Capitol riot. The protests temporarily interrupted the electoral vote count after FBI agents and Capitol Police officers allowed Trump supporters into the Capitol Building. Videos from the event show several officers removing security barriers, and even opening the door to the Capitol for some protestors.
However, Cheney and the other anti-Trump witch hunters hope to show the “well-organized” conspiracy surrounding the events.
Videos from the day, including Trump’s speech, clearly show a President urging his supporters to protest peacefully. The Former President argues that proper security measures were not taken despite warnings from law enforcement and the National Guard. In fact, Nancy Pelosi herself turned down an offer from the National Guard to provide added security on Jan. 6.
“This committee is illegitimate, unconstitutional, and designed to punish Pelosi’s political opponents,” Stefanik said.
She really IS sounding like Donald Trump’s Vice President, isn’t she?
The first Jan. 6 hearing Thursday will be a prime-time event, while the second hearing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday. House Democrats hired James Goldston, former president of ABC News responsible for burying the Epstein bombshell, to produce the event.
