It’s a show of protest heard around the world, and no one is doing it better than Canada. Truckers in Canada are putting a stop to traffic on yet another bridge on the border as police and lawmakers become increasingly concerned about the movement. Wednesday reports showed that trucks were arriving in Port Huron, Michigan, at the Blue Water bridge. This is only about an approximate hour away from the bridge that is already closed called Ambassador Bridge.
Police in Ontario sent out a request for more resources to help deal with the protest that is only growing in numbers. This comes after the transportation minister in Canada warned that the shutdown that the truckers are causing will have major consequences economically. Despite this fact, the Prime Minister of Canada, Justine Trudeau, is refusing to back down, even as people that are from his own party began calling for changes to the ongoing COVID restrictions.
Many Republicans in America have already responded to the situation, and show their support for the trucker. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) opened fire at Trudeau and the Democrats in the United States, saying that this was just an example of how Canadians and Americans are sick and tired of all the hypocrisy.
Cruz said, “This COVID pandemic, we have seen petty authoritarians willing to impose mandates that they have no right to impose, lawless mandates. Joe Biden has done so, Democratic governors have done so, Democratic mayors have done so, the government of Canada has done so…I also believe in individual liberty. It’s your choice whether or not to choose to get a COVID vaccine and you shouldn’t have some petty tyrant forcing you to make that choice.”
And in the midst of all of this, the message that the Freedom Convoy is trying to get out is spreading like wildfire on a global scale. Even in places like New Zealand, where protesters descended on their Parliament, and in France, where truckers are currently on their way to the famous city of Paris. In the United States, truckers are already planning a convoy of their own, with plans to drive from Parliament all the way to D.C. in an effort to rise against the never-ending mandates.
The movement is on a global scale now, and there’s nothing Democrats can do to stop it.
