House Majority Leader Tom Emmer (R-MN) stated in a message to Breitbart News this week that he supports Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) impeachment investigation and that “not even President Biden stands above the law.”
“We have done exactly that throughout the last eight months—providing transparency and accountability—as the American people mandated of our House Republican majority,” Emmer stated in a written statement. “Chairman Comer has shown that the Biden family was involved in a worrisome pattern of corruption, that involved selling government access to foreign enemies such as China. I agree with Speaker McCarthy’s promise to continue following the facts no matter where they lead and make sure that no one stands above the law, including President Biden.”
Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other officials might be impeached, Emmer said in January when speaking with Breitbart News, if the House discovered proof of “impeachable malfeasance.”
Emmer said, “The best way to get rid of corruption is sunlight and openness, but there hasn’t been any of that, and there is an abundance of corruption within the administration as well as outside of it, too.”
He also said that there was a “double standard” for holding Biden and former President Trump accountable for “breaches of the public trust and possibly more.”
