Your Extra Bedroom For A Migrant–New Democrat Program Is A Nightmare

Massachusetts, under Democrat Governor Maura Healey, is pushing a ridiculous and dangerous plan, asking private homeowners to house illegal aliens due to a lack of space. This ludicrous idea follows Healey’s declaration of a “state of emergency” in August because of the influx of over 20,000 individuals, including families, into the state.

Healey and her administration, in their misguided attempt to address this self-inflicted crisis, have suggested this absurd idea of private citizens opening their homes to these illegals. This move is a clear sign of the failure of their policies and a desperate attempt to offload the burden onto law-abiding citizens.

The state is already providing free shelter to more than 1,400 families in various hotels, all at the expense of taxpayers. And now, they’re pressuring homeowners through groups like Immigrant Support Alliance to take in these migrants. This is nothing short of an invasion of privacy and a potential threat to the safety and well-being of Massachusetts residents.

What’s particularly infuriating is the state’s “right to housing” law, which forces taxpayers to shoulder the cost of housing homeless families, including illegal aliens. In 2023, this absurd policy cost the state $2.6 million, a figure expected to skyrocket to $10.7 million in 2024. It’s a clear demonstration of how liberal policies are bankrupting states and burdening taxpayers.

The safety concerns raised by Boston Herald columnist Howie Carr are legitimate. How can homeowners be sure they’re not inviting criminals or carriers of diseases into their homes? Are parents supposed to gamble with the safety of their children by bringing in strangers who have already shown a disregard for our laws?

Governor Healey’s scheme is a blatant overreach of government power. The idea that citizens might be compelled to house illegal immigrants under the guise of the “right to housing” law is outrageous and unconstitutional. This is what happens when Democrats are in charge: law-abiding citizens are expected to clean up the mess created by reckless immigration policies, while their safety and rights are ignored.

This situation in Massachusetts should be a wake-up call to all Americans about the dangers of unchecked liberal policies and the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting our borders. It’s high time for a return to policies that put the safety and well-being of American citizens first.
