Big Tech companies may be the arbiters of censorship as they have direct control over content moderation levers on every social media platform, all of which have now become the de facto town square.
Millions upon millions of people use social media every day but the content that’s delivered to them will now be even more ‘moderated’ (censored) thanks to a new policy that was just announced at Twitter.
It seems the commies over at Twitter are doing all they can to censor their users before Elon Musk finally takes the reigns — if he’s ever allowed to.
The social media company will now implement a new policy that focuses on the spread of “misinformation’ during times of crisis.
Tweets branded as misinformation during a crisis will be blocked out with a warning notice under the new “Crisis Misinformation Policy,” according to Twitter. Executives revealed “high profile accounts” would be prioritized, a move that seems geared toward Donald Trump’s possible reinstatement.
Twitter will take its cues from so-called “credible sources” who will determine what constitutes misinformation. These sources include journalists, “conflict monitoring groups”, humanitarian organizations, and more.

Journalists?! Journalists are the peddlers of all misinformation!
Tweets could receive a warning notice if they include false reporting that “mischaracterizes conditions” of evolving ground conflicts and “false allegations” regarding the use of force and violations of sovereign territory, according to the blog post.
Additionally, tweets that contain “demonstrably false” war crime allegations or inaccurate information on the response of the international community could also be subject to a warning notice, the blog post read.
Fact checks, strong commentary, and anecdotes are exempt from the policy, according to the blog post.
So then who determines what constitutes “strong commentary” or if a certain tweet is anecdotal? Will blue-check journalists determine that as well?
The impetus of this policy was supposedly the unprecedented amount of propaganda circulating on Twitter as a result of the military conflict in Ukraine Both sides of the conflict have flooded the social media platform with spambots paid to peddle the most insane lies about each other. However, the policy will include other forms of ‘misinformation’ as well.
