When President Trump said he’d Make America Safe Again, many on the left scoffed. But today, the results speak louder than their cynicism ever could. The U.S. Coast Guard, under this administration’s direction, has seized over 240,000 pounds of cocaine since Trump returned to the White House—enough to kill more than 91 million people. That’s the combined population of California, Texas, and New York. Let that sink in.
This isn’t just a win. It’s a turning point.
Under Joe Biden, open-border chaos became the norm. Cartels weren’t just exploiting the southern border—they were running it. Human trafficking skyrocketed. Fentanyl poured into our communities. And Democrats? They called it compassion.
But this administration is showing what real compassion looks like: stopping poison before it reaches our neighborhoods, protecting our kids, and holding the criminal networks accountable. That’s what Trump promised, and that’s what he’s delivering.
As White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson put it, “President Donald Trump is keeping his promise to Make America Safe Again… these illicit drugs will never infiltrate America’s communities and take innocent lives.” That’s not a slogan—it’s a policy reality.
Let’s talk numbers. Between January and July 2025, America’s Coast Guard seized over $509 million worth of cocaine and marijuana in 13 separate interdictions in the Atlantic. According to the Department of Homeland Security, this represents a 100% increase in cocaine seizures over the same period last year. That’s no accident—it’s the result of a strategic crackdown on land and sea smuggling routes.
The Coast Guard’s acting Commandant, Admiral Kevin Lunday, explained it clearly: “The U.S. southern border is an interconnected system, and as illegal migration and smuggling become harder across the southwest land border, cartels may try different routes.” In other words, when you secure the land border—as Trump has done—criminals are forced to risk interdiction at sea. And the Coast Guard is ready for them.
“Our message to the cartels is this: We own the sea, not you,” Admiral Lunday said. That’s the kind of leadership Americans have been hungry for—strong, unambiguous, and backed by action.
Let’s contrast that with the Biden era, when border encounters were spiraling out of control and criminal cartels were thriving. Under Biden, agents in Arizona watched as smuggling operations shifted from narcotics to human trafficking, simply because the penalties were lighter and the profits higher. Detective Shawn Wilson said it plainly: “There’s a lot more money to be made” smuggling people into the U.S.
That’s what happens when you have weak leadership—when the law is blurred, enforcement is optional, and the message to criminals is: America’s borders are open for business.
Now, under Trump’s leadership, that message has changed. The border isn’t just back under control—it’s becoming impenetrable. In June 2025, Customs and Border Protection reported just 25,228 illegal border encounters. For perspective, that’s down from a staggering 204,932 in June 2024 under Biden. That’s not a drop—that’s a free fall.
And yet, the mainstream media barely whispers about it. They’re too busy chasing the next anti-Trump narrative to report on the fact that American lives are being saved, neighborhoods are being protected, and drug cartels are being neutralized.
Here’s the truth they won’t tell you: the Trump Doctrine works. Secure borders, empowered law enforcement, and unflinching resolve are dismantling the cartel pipeline piece by piece. Every pound of cocaine seized is a life potentially saved. Every cartel boat intercepted is a direct hit against transnational crime.
This is what America-first policy looks like in action.
So while the left continues to wring their hands and cry about “militarization” or “xenophobia,” the Trump administration is doing the real work—keeping drugs and traffickers out, restoring law and order, and proving that America doesn’t have to tolerate lawlessness.
The message is clear: Our borders are not open. Our seas are not yours. And under President Trump, America will never go back to being a doormat for drug lords and human smugglers.
We’re taking our country back—one seizure at a time.
