Trump On Murder Attempt: “There’s Something Going On”

“There’s something going on, maybe it’s God,” former President Donald Trump said the day after surviving his second attempt on his life in two months.

Trump joked on X Space, “There’s something going on. Maybe God wants me to be president to save this country. No one knows.”

Next, Trump talked about the first attempt on his life, saying, “When I made the right turn, it was very strange because the people standing in front of me weren’t on the right.” Because I turned my head exactly 90 degrees, the bullet flew by and hit me in the ear.”

The 45th president said, “Then yesterday, you had another attempt with a different result, actually a much better result because we lost Corey.” He also said that David Dutch and James Copenhaver, two other rallygoers, were seriously hurt.

Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire on Trump while he was speaking at a campaign gathering in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Trump barely made it through the first attempt to kill him.

On September 15, two months later, Trump escaped a second attempt on his life. The would-be killer, Ryan Wesley Routh, was caught hiding in the trees near Trump International Golf Course. He seemed to be waiting for Trump to come into view.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office says Routh had bags, a Go-Pro, and a gun with a scope with him.

It is said that Secret Service agents travel one or two holes ahead of Trump while he golfs to keep the area safe. Routh was stopped before he could fire shots at the 45th president.

“A Secret Service member had seen the barrel of an AK-47,” Trump said on X Space on Monday night. “He began to shoot at the barrel. He began shooting in the bushes. The only thing he could see was the barrel, so he pulled the trigger.”

Trump said that the agent “ran toward the target and was shooting.”

“Those were gunshots we heard. The other one, Routh, never got a chance to shoot,” Trump said. “Routh ran across the street and jumped into his car or truck.”
