A man shown on tape has forced entry into the Virginia campaign headquarters of former President Donald Trump.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Northern Virginia characterized the suspect as a “white adult guy, wearing black clothes, a dark hat, and a bag.”
According to a sheriff’s office spokesperson, surveillance footage showed the suspect entering the building and going through the office. At about 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, someone called the sheriff’s office to report the break-in.
The suspect, who is still at large, has had his photos made public in an effort to help identify him. The pictures appear to show the man opening or loading something into his backpack. Authorities have yet to confirm whether any items were actually taken from the workplace.
“Office breaches for political campaigns or parties are uncommon,” Sheriff Mike Chapman said.
“Our goal is to identify the culprit, look into the circumstances surrounding it, and find out what was perhaps taken and what was possibly left behind,” Chapman continued.
The Virginia 10th District Republican Committee’s headquarters are also located in the campaign office.
In response to an Associated Press request for comment, neither the Trump campaign nor the committee said anything.
The campaign claimed earlier this day that an Iranian entity had hacked its internal communications in June, as Blaze News previously reported. This is the day for the alleged break-in. Hackers published a 271-page dossier with publicly accessible details regarding Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), the vice presidential nominee, as part of the attack. Vance has previously criticized Trump, and the letter stated that these critiques were considered “possible weaknesses.” Hackers also compromised a portion of a comparable report on Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), one of Trump’s top choices for a running mate.
An “Iranian outfit, this one associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, sent a spearphishing email to a high-ranking person on a presidential campaign,” according to a study issued by Microsoft on Friday. The study did not, however, specify whose presidential campaign was the target.
“These records were stolen illegally from foreign groups hostile against the U.S., designed to tamper with the 2024 election and spread havoc across our Democratic process,” Trump campaign member Steven Cheung told Politico.
Cheung said, “The Iranians understand that Donald Trump will put an end to their terrorism, just like he did in his initial four years in office.” “Any news organization or medium that reprints papers or internal correspondence is carrying out the precise wishes and desires of America’s adversaries.”
