Trump Delivers A Brutal Truth To Liberal Reporter

Leftist media and the Harris campaign have done everything they can to make President Donald Trump’s interview with the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg News look like the Republican messed up. They’ve called it “disastrously bad,” “rambling,” “angry and unfocused,” and “a total mess.”

People in the crowd at the Economic Club of Chicago clearly had a different opinion. They cheered when Trump answered Bloomberg’s John Micklethwait, booed when the interviewer asked biased questions and gave the president a standing ovation.

Micklethwait allegedly told his staff not to look into Michael Bloomberg or his Democratic opponents before the 2020 election. He tried to kneecap the Republican candidate more than once but wasn’t up to the task.

In one case, the British Bloomberg EIC tried to say that Trump’s plan to put high tariffs on goods and on American companies that outsource production was “potentially ruinous,” which meant that it could hurt both the economy and other countries.

Trump said that his tariff policy during his first term was becoming very successful. Then the pandemic hit. He said that his policy was encouraging companies to build factories in the U.S. and bringing in “hundreds of billions of dollars just from China alone, and I hadn’t even started yet.”

“They were wrong about everything.”

Micklethwait said:

“There are a lot of jobs here that depend on people from other countries coming here. The trade between us and China will stop for good. That would be subject to 60% taxes. You want to put 10, 20% taxes on the rest of the world. Something like that will really hurt the industry as a whole. And yes, there will be people who would benefit from having their own prices. The result could be huge all together.”

Trump disagreed with the Bloomberg editor’s main point and said, “I agree. It is going to have a huge impact. But a good result. It will be a good thing, not a bad thing.”

Trump went on, “I know how dedicated you are to this. It must be hard for you to spend 25 years talking about tariffs as being negative and then have somebody explain to you that you’re totally wrong.”

Micklethwait tried to re-establish himself by implying that 40 million jobs that depend on trade might be lost because of the taxes, but the crowd laughed.

“Are you ready? John Deere. Great business. About a year ago, they said they were going to build big plants outside of the US,” Trump said. “They’re going to build them in Mexico.”

“That’s right.” Trump added, “I told them that if they built those plants, they wouldn’t sell anything to the US.”

The Wall Street Journal reported after the Bloomberg interview that John Deere has not yet given up on its plans to do business in Mexico. However, Trump’s possible re-election could make the company rethink its focus on other countries.
