Thousands of dollars have been contributed to Democrat politicians, including President Biden, by one of the seasoned lawyers helping Jack Smith, the special counsel, in his investigation into former President Trump.
In 2022, David Rody resigned from his position as a partner at the legal firm of Sidley Austin to become a senior counsel for the criminal division of the Dept. of Justice (DOJ). He is now assisting Smith, who has twice indicted Trump for his alleged attempts to interfere with the 2020 election and his management of White House records.
It’s interesting to note that Rody is a Democrat contributor who gave $5,600 to Biden in 2020 and about $7,000 to various Democratic organizations from 2018 to 2022.
According to the Washington Examiner:
“Rody was formerly in charge of the violent crimes division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. He oversaw investigations into bribery, obstruction of justice, fraud, and other federal crimes. In June, he also donated $1,000 to the campaign of Representative Dan Goldman (D-NY), who served as the principal prosecutor in the initial investigation into Trump’s impeachment.”
“He also donated $500 to now-Vice President Harris’ unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2019 and $2,250 to Senator Cory Booker’s (D-NJ) presidential as well as Senate reelection campaigns.”
“Jack Smith along with his gang of henchmen are very dishonest, partisan thugs working as enforcers for Biden and the Democratic Party,” declared Karoline Leavitt, a representative for the Make America Great Again Inc. PAC. “It comes as no surprise that some of his prosecutors have donated to Biden.”
According to the Examiner, Biden and former President Obama are supporters of Karen Gilbert, another major attorney on Smith’s team.
Additionally, Smith’s wife donated money to Biden and worked on a Michelle Obama documentary.
According to Breitbart News:
“According to the Federal Election Commission’s records, Katy Chevigny, the spouse of Smith, gave $1,000 on Sept. 9, 2020, to the Biden Victory Funds super PAC, Biden for President, and the 2020 campaign of Joe Biden. In addition, she gave $150 to the Friends of Rashida Tlaib group in July 2008, while Tlaib was competing for the state’s Twelfth District seat within the Michigan House of Representatives.”
A grand jury in Washington, DC, charged Trump this week on four counts related to the Capitol rioting on January 6: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to impede an official process, obstruction and attempt to hinder an official proceeding as well as conspiracy violating rights.
Trump appeared in federal court in Washington, D.C., this week, and pleaded not guilty. As soon as he was charged, Trump said, “This represents the persecution of a political rival.”
Trump’s most recent trial under the special counsel will be overseen by United States District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan. According to Breitbart News, Chutkan, who was appointed by Obama, contributed to the 2008 as well as 2012 reelection efforts of former President Obama.
