Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the leading member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, ordered on Tuesday that Tim Thibault, a former Federal agent, testify before the Senate for reportedly stopping the FBI’s 2020 investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop.
According to Grassley, Thibault “closed down” an entirely independent investigation that is probably unrelated to the ongoing criminal investigation into suspected tax evasion by the president’s son.
According to the New York Times, U.S. prosecutor David Weiss, who was appointed by Trump, is currently looking into Hunter for tax fraud, money laundering, and violating lobbying regulations. Hunter reportedly paid the IRS $1 million to avoid conviction and a lengthy sentence and is attempting to resolve the case outside of court.
Grassley said that an independent investigation revealed that FBI agents were allegedly prevented from looking into Hunter’s laptop. “FBI officials sought to act on this distinct investigation material about Hunter Biden that it had in its possession. But Thibault prevented the FBI from acting as it ordinarily would have,” Grassley said on the Senate floor.
At the FBI’s Washington Field Office, Thibault held the position of an assistant special agent in charge. He allegedly departed the organization without responding to the accusations made against him.
“As a result, the investigation and information could not go as they should have, which implies the FBI could have obtained additional proof regarding Hunter Biden but chose to cut bait. And just before the 2020 presidential election, the FBI and Thibault trimmed their losses,” Grassley added.
Thibault allegedly closing down the laptop investigation, according to Grassley, “calls into suspicion what US prosecutor Weiss is truly probing.”
Regarding the investigation into tax fraud, Grassley stated, “It also raises questions about what the FBI’s Baltimore field office is looking at and whether it’s the whole spectrum of evidence.”
Grassley claimed that the existing Head Of the FBI, Christopher Wray has declined to answer questions regarding the various cases.
“How can the American people believe the investigation’s findings?” On the Senate floor, Grassley made the query.
“Come in, Mr. Tim Thibault. Please join me and my colleagues for a recorded interview,” Grassley commanded.
According to the New York Post, Tony Bobulinski, Hunter Biden’s former business partner, is concerned that the newly disbanded Thibault has hidden the evidence he provided to the FBI regarding his business ties with the Biden family in China. President Joe Biden and Bobulinski had a one-hour personal meeting in 2017 to go about “the Bidens’ family business ambitions with the Chinese.”
A 2017 email from Hunter’s laptop indicated a business agreement would contain 10% “held by H for the big guy” between Bobulinski, the Biden family, and top officials of the Chinese Communist Party. The much-discussed May 13, 2017 e-mail contained a reference to “the big guy,” according to Bobulinski, who also confirmed that it was a reference to Joe Biden.
