President Trump’s State Department just took a major step toward putting America First—this time targeting a scam that’s been quietly eroding U.S. sovereignty for decades: birth tourism.
In a firm new announcement Thursday, the State Department warned foreign nationals that abusing U.S. tourist visas for the purpose of giving birth on American soil—simply to secure citizenship for their children—will not be tolerated.
“It is unacceptable for foreign parents to use a U.S. tourist visa for the primary purpose of giving birth in the United States to obtain citizenship for the child, which also could result in American taxpayers paying the medical care costs,” the State Department declared in a post on X. “This is known as birth tourism, and U.S. consular officers deny all such visa applications under U.S. immigration law.”

Finally, an administration treating U.S. citizenship like the sacred gift that it is—not a cheap commodity to be handed out to anyone with the airfare.
The crackdown specifically targets the abuse of B-1 (business) and B-2 (tourist) visas, making it crystal clear: if you’re flying into America with a baby bump and a plan, don’t bother. Applicants who are caught lying about their intentions risk being permanently banned from entering the United States.
This policy couldn’t come at a more critical time. According to the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), an estimated 33,000 births a year come from women who enter the U.S. on tourist visas just to game the system. And that’s before you count the hundreds of thousands of additional births to illegal aliens and other temporary visa holders.
This isn’t just a bureaucratic nuisance—it’s an industry. Entire businesses have popped up offering “birth tourism packages” to wealthy families in China, Russia, Korea, Nigeria, Brazil, Mexico, and beyond. These companies openly advertise five-star stays, luxury hospital access, and guaranteed U.S. citizenship for newborns, all while American taxpayers foot the hospital bills for many who skip out on paying.
Worse still, it’s not just about the money. Experts have warned that birth tourism poses a serious national security threat. Granting automatic citizenship to individuals whose parents have no allegiance to the United States opens the door to future exploitation—and it undermines the very meaning of citizenship itself.
Here’s the real kicker: while hardworking American families struggle with rising healthcare costs, foreign nationals have been gaming our system, flooding public hospitals, and racking up millions in unpaid medical bills—all while Democrats turn a blind eye.
Thankfully, President Trump isn’t playing along. In one of his boldest moves yet to defend American sovereignty, Trump signed an executive order on January 20 aimed at restricting birthright citizenship. Predictably, the open-borders Left rushed to their favorite activist judges to block the order, and three district courts quickly tried to tie it up in legal red tape.
But the fight is far from over. The U.S. Supreme Court is slated to hear arguments on Trump’s executive order this May, setting up a landmark battle over the true meaning of the 14th Amendment.
The Trump administration’s position is simple and rooted in common sense: the 14th Amendment was never meant to grant citizenship to the children of tourists, foreign operatives, or illegal immigrants. It was written to guarantee citizenship to freed slaves and their descendants—not to be abused as a loophole for foreigners.
The key phrase “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” has long been misinterpreted. Trump’s legal team rightly argues that foreign nationals, loyal to their own governments, are not under full U.S. jurisdiction and therefore their children should not automatically receive citizenship.
It’s a fight for the very future of America—a battle between those who believe citizenship should be earned, and those who think it should be handed out like candy to anyone who can game the system.
As always, President Trump is standing up for the forgotten American citizen—and the globalists are losing their minds over it.
