Joe Biden is scrambling to play Santa Claus for Ukraine before he packs up his presidency, rushing out a last-minute aid package worth billions of taxpayer dollars. According to a briefing shared with The Guardian, Biden’s National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met with Andriy Yermak, a top Ukrainian official, on December 5 to lay out plans to ship even more ammunition, rockets, armored vehicles, and other military goodies to Ukraine by mid-January. Looks like Biden wants to leave a parting gift to the military-industrial complex before President-elect Donald Trump takes the reins.
In what can only be described as Biden’s farewell love letter to Zelensky, the package includes artillery rounds, thousands of rockets, and training programs for Ukrainian troops. There’s even talk of a $20 billion loan to Ukraine, funded by profits from immobilized Russian assets. It’s like Biden’s throwing cash and weapons around like Oprah handing out cars—except the audience is the American taxpayer, footing the bill whether they like it or not.
And while Biden is playing defense contractor-in-chief, Trump’s incoming team has made it clear that sanity is returning to the White House. Trump-Vance Transition Spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt laid out the plan: “President Trump has repeatedly stated that a top priority in his second term will be to quickly negotiate a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war. He believes European nations should meet their NATO defense spending obligations and step up their share of the burden for this conflict, as the U.S. has paid significantly more, which is not fair to our taxpayers.”
This aid package, reportedly including more sanctions on Moscow, follows Biden’s well-worn strategy of throwing money at problems without solving them. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen tried to justify this approach by claiming sanctions on Russian banks are meant to “diminish and degrade Russia’s war machine.” Meanwhile, European nations stand on the sidelines, happy to let America play sugar daddy.
Trump has been clear: The endless funneling of U.S. resources into a foreign conflict must end. He’s promised to bring the war to a close within 24 hours of returning to office, focusing on diplomacy and a fair resolution. Compare that to the Democrats’ approach of escalating tensions and draining the U.S. economy—all while claiming they’re the adults in the room.
Biden’s rush to arm Ukraine, coupled with his administration’s failures at home, showcases everything wrong with Democratic leadership. They prioritize foreign wars over American interests, leaving working families to deal with inflation, a struggling economy, and national security risks. Thankfully, Trump’s return signals the end of this madness and a return to an America First agenda. The Democrats had their chance, and they blew it—big time.
