SCOTUS Protects Rights Of Religious Parents In Landmark Ruling

Liberals are in the process of transforming the American public school system into a series of left-wing indoctrination camps for children where curriculums are merely training tools for the next generation of Democrat shock troops, so it makes sense why they’d be so vehemently opposed to school choice.

Unfortunately for them, the Supreme Court doesn’t agree.

On Tuesday, the nation’s highest court ruled that Maine had violated the First Amendment by excluding religious schools from a state voucher program.

In the case Carson v. Makin, SCOTUS ruled 6-3 along ideological lines that Maine’s tuition assistance program, which barred guardians from using the funds for private religious education, was unconstitutional as it violated the First Amendment.

While reaction from Democrats was limited, Republicans were quick to praise the court’s landmark ruling in Carson v. Makin as a victory for religious freedom and for efforts to enact school choice.

In a statement, Sen. Ben Sasse called the ruling a “common-sense First Amendment ruling” and a “win for principled pluralism.”

“This is pretty simple: in America, the government can’t treat people of faith like second-class citizens by letting public money go to some private schools, but not religious private schools. Maine has been discriminating against religious parents for four decades, and the Court is right to put an end to it.”

Sasse and other Republican senators had submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court that urged justices to rule in favor of the Maine family challenging the state’s policy barring “sectarian” schools from participating in a school choice program for students in areas without a public school.

The brief was led by Sen. Mike Lee, who praised the court’s decision.

Sen. Ted Cruz also celebrated the ruling in a tweet, saying it was “a massive win for families, the school choice movement, and for religious liberty.”

While Democratic lawmakers and the Biden administration did not immediately provide a reaction to the court’s landmark ruling, Becky Pringle, the president of the nation’s largest teachers union blasted the court for what she branded a “radical ruling.”

“Forcing American taxpayers to fund private religious education — even when those private schools fail to meet education standards, intentionally discriminate against students, or use public funds to promote religious training, worship, and instruction — erodes the foundation of our democracy and harms students,” the union leader said.

As they decry the destruction of the separation of church and state in Tuesday’s ruling, liberals are proselytizing and disseminating the insidious, racist, and anti-American ‘new’ religion of liberalism and all the disturbing realities it entails.
