RFK Jr. Shakes Up Vaccines: Mercury No More!

RFK Jr. Shakes Up Vaccines: Mercury No More!

For decades, Americans were told not to question the “science” behind vaccines. If you did, you were labeled a conspiracy theorist, a crank, or worse. But now, in a move that should’ve happened 20 years ago, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has done what the so-called public health experts refused to: He’s ordered the removal of mercury from flu vaccines. Yes, mercury—one of the most toxic elements known to man—has still been used in flu shots, and yes, children have been exposed to it.

Let that sink in.

The mercury-based preservative, thimerosal, has been in widespread use since the mid-20th century. It’s about 50 percent mercury by weight. While it was removed from most childhood vaccines back in 1999, it remained in multi-dose flu shots. According to the FDA, roughly 5 percent of flu shots administered in late 2024 and early 2025 still contained thimerosal. That’s millions of doses. And despite the CDC’s claim that there’s “no evidence of harm” from the small amounts in vaccines, that’s not exactly the reassurance concerned parents want to hear after years of government flip-flopping on health policy.

Kennedy said it best: “Injecting any amount of mercury into children when safe, mercury-free alternatives exist defies common sense and public health responsibility.” That’s not anti-vaccine. That’s pro-common sense. It’s pro-child. And, frankly, it’s long overdue.

The action follows a 5–1 vote in June from the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which Kennedy overhauled after cleaning house and removing the entrenched bureaucrats who had long rubber-stamped status quo medicine. This wasn’t a fringe decision. It was backed by credentialed experts who are finally willing to admit what many Americans have suspected: chronic exposure to mercury—even in small doses—carries real risk.

Dr. Robert Malone, one of the new advisers, put it plainly: “We do have a risk of repeated exposure to this. So it’s not just a one administration, but potential chronic exposure on an annual basis.” He’s right. A flu shot isn’t a one-time event; it’s pushed every single year, starting in infancy. That cumulative exposure is what makes this issue so serious.

Of course, the usual suspects are already trying to downplay the move. The American College of Physicians and others claim the ban isn’t necessary. One lone holdout on the ACIP panel, Dr. Cody Meissner, voted no, saying he didn’t think there was “any evidence” of harm. But that’s the same kind of dismissive attitude that gave us the COVID lockdown disasters, the school closures, and the disastrous masking policies. Americans are done blindly trusting these so-called experts.

What’s refreshing is that this isn’t just a symbolic gesture. There’s no disruption to the flu vaccine supply. Manufacturers like Sanofi and CSL Seqirus have already confirmed they have more than enough thimerosal-free vaccines to meet demand. That’s the beauty of actually planning ahead and putting public health before Big Pharma convenience.

Now, the United States leads by example. Kennedy is already calling on global health authorities to follow suit. “We urge global health authorities to follow this prudent example for the protection of children worldwide,” he stated.

This is how government should work: identify a real risk, act decisively, and do it in a way that protects the people without unnecessary panic or disruption. For too long, our health agencies have been bloated with bureaucrats more interested in pushing Pharma-friendly narratives than protecting the American people. RFK Jr. just reminded them what real leadership looks like.

It’s a rare thing nowadays to see someone in Washington actually take on the entrenched interests in the name of protecting children. But that’s exactly what happened here. And while we may not agree with Kennedy on everything, credit where credit is due: getting mercury out of flu vaccines is a win for science, a win for parental rights, and most of all, a win for America’s kids.

Let this be a message to every other federal agency still clinging to outdated, dangerous policies: the days of “just trust us” are over. Accountability is back. And it’s about time.
