Republicans Roll Up Their Sleeves And Get To Work After Democrats Refuse To Discuss Border Crisis

House Freedom Caucus members, led by Chairman Scott Perry (R-PA) recently held an ad-hoc hearing at FreedomWorks, a grassroots conservative advocacy group, because House Democrats refuse to allow legislators to hold formal hearings on the continual U.S.-Mexico border crisis. Democrats, who are currently the majority party, are allowed to dictate whether such hearings can take place.

Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) made frustrated opening remarks at the meeting, explaining that “we’ve repeatedly requested [to]… hold hearings to investigate the state of the border crisis and the policies that created that crisis.” Biggs noted that because none of the Democrat chairs were willing to address the issue, they were forced to hold a meeting “off-campus,” with the Biden administration refusing to offer Republicans access to rooms on Capitol Hill to hold hearings on the matter.

The two-hour hearing addressed several issues exacerbated by issues connected to the southern border. It also took aim at Democrat President Biden’s secretive night-flight tactics whereby he dumps thousands of illegal aliens throughout the U.S. Joseph Edlow, the former acting director for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said that he wasn’t aware of any authority that the President possessed to justify relocating the illegal immigrants to locations deeper inside of the country.

“There’s no parole authority that exists under law… I’m aware of that would allow DHS [to] summarily release the individuals and put [them] on these flights,” Edlow explained.

Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council testified at the event, explaining how Border Patrol agents have been unable to properly address drug smugglers since their hands have been tied up with processing family units and children who give themselves up willingly. The result, according to Judd, is that Mexican “criminal cartels… create billions of dollars… at the expense of U.S. citizens who [died] at a record rate in 2021.”

The leading cause of increased overdose deaths is Fentanyl, which saw a surge in popularity and traffic since Biden took office.

The fact that the Democrat-controlled House refuses to address the multitude of issues stemming from the Southern Border is nothing short of insane and will cost them dearly in this year’s coming elections. At least for now, Republicans are organizing and planning how to combat this existential issue.
