Republicans Issue Major Legal Challenge To Biden’s Presidency

The Republican National Committee, along with a number of other citizens and Republican politicians, have filed a lawsuit against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for its open declaration that it has no intention of following the law regarding the acceptance of mail-in ballots that don’t meet the state’s own eligibility requirements. According to Townhall:

“NRCC Chairman Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN), RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, and PAGOP Chairman Lawrence Tabas issued a joint statement in which they stated that “as the Pennsylvania legislature and United States Supreme Court have made abundantly clear, undated mail-in ballots shouldn’t be counted” and pledged that “Republicans will be holding Pennsylvania Dems accountable for their defiance of the Supreme Court and the laws duly set by the legislature.”

When the Supreme Court did not rule in the case, it urged Pennsylvania to obey its current regulations about ballot eligibility, which it evidently cannot or would not fathom. Pennsylvania, for its part, cannot see the obvious.

And here we were thinking John Fetterman’s faculties were not fully under his control. It must be a state-wide issue. But I digress.

It’s unclear why this is such a tough notion to understand. The law is plainly stated on the state’s website:

  • Applications for mail-in or absentee ballots must be received by the county election board by Nov. 1, 2022, at 5 p.m.
  • VOTED BALLOTS must be RECEIVED by the county election office by Nov. 8, 2022 at 8 p.m. – postmarks are not sufficient.

“Have you missed the voting deadline? If you have an emergency (such as a sudden sickness or disability, or a last-min absence from your municipality), you may be eligible to obtain a ballot after the deadline. Find out how to obtain an emergency absentee ballot.”

A little louder for the ones in the back.

Return your completed ballot to your county election board. Mail-in and absentee voting Ballots must be received by the county election board no later than 8 p.m. on election day. Turn the ballot in as soon as possible to guarantee that it is received by the deadline.

1. You can vote via mail.

  • Using the return envelope provided with your ballot, ensure that you apply the appropriate postage (if necessary) and that it reaches your county election board by 8 p.m. on the day of the election. Postmarks don’t count. Your ballot will not be counted if it is not returned to the county election board by 8 p.m. on election day.

2. You can deliver your ballot in person to the county election office or another legally authorized venue before 8 p.m. on election day.

  • Mail ballot drop-boxes are available in several counties.

Do you understand everything? If this is the case, please let the Pennsylvania Dept. of State know what their own website says. You will not receive a mail-in ballot if the mail-in ballot application is not received by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 1st. You cannot count the ballot if it is not delivered by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 8th, i.e., Election Day. So, what is the reason behind the Pennsylvania Dept. of State’s refusal to respect the law? Aside from the apparent political allegiance.

However, one wonders whether the case, provided it is heard before Election Day, would alter anything, even if it is decided in favor of the GOP. Unless and until people are imprisoned for breaking the law, Democrats will continue to break and/or ignore the law with impunity. Also, until Republicans do more than sound like they’re going to break out the MMA, but when it comes to action, they settle for tiddlywinks, why should Democrats care? Stop talking and start doing something. For a change.
