Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is once again doing what she does best: pointing fingers at President-elect Donald Trump and his supporters. During an appearance on “Face the Nation,” Pelosi accused Trump of encouraging violence, even going so far as to tie him to the 2022 attack on her husband, Paul Pelosi. According to Pelosi, Trump’s influence didn’t end with January 6 but has somehow fueled ongoing threats against her family.
Pelosi’s comments come as Trump prepares to take office and has promised to swiftly pardon many of those charged in connection to the January 6 Capitol protests. While she hopes he will “evaluate the charges on a case-by-case basis,” Pelosi’s tone made it clear she believes Trump’s supporters are nothing short of a violent mob. She described those who entered her office on January 6 as “violent attackers with intention,” claiming they were bent on harming the vice president and others.
Pelosi’s attempts to blame Trump for the attack on her husband, which involved a deranged home intruder in 2022, border on the absurd. Linking an isolated incident to the broader January 6 narrative is just another example of the Democrats’ knack for exploiting personal tragedies for political gain. While her husband’s recovery from his injuries is undoubtedly challenging, the suggestion that Trump somehow orchestrated the attack is laughable at best.
Trump, for his part, has consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding January 6 and has accused the House January 6 Committee of fabricating allegations against him. He’s even gone so far as to suggest that committee members “should go to jail” for their actions. And let’s face it, given the committee’s one-sided approach and disregard for due process, it’s hard to argue with him.
As usual, Pelosi’s comments reflect the left’s obsession with January 6. They can’t move past it because it’s their favorite tool for demonizing Trump and his supporters. Meanwhile, Democrats ignore the rampant crime, border crisis, and inflation that affect everyday Americans. It’s a convenient distraction, but it’s wearing thin.
With Trump back in the White House, the focus will shift to policies that matter: securing the border, rebuilding the economy, and restoring law and order. The Democrats’ fixation on the past won’t solve the real problems facing this country, but strong, America-first leadership will.
