Nancy Pelosi has a bevy of insidious reasons for going to Asia during a period of unrest between China and the U.S.
Firstly, the House Speaker is still reeling from an insider trading scandal in which her husband Paul, a known drunkard, directly benefitted from his wife’s role within the federal government.
Paul made a multimillion-dollar stock purchase in a microchip company just before the House was set to vote on a bill that provided government subsidies to semiconductor companies. The scandal was so egregious, however, that Paul was forced to sell his stock at a massive loss. Nancy’s office blamed “misinformation” for her family’s financial setback.
The hubbub created by Nancy’s overseas visit to Asia — and possibly Taiwan — created a welcome distraction from her family’s corruption scandal.
The House Speaker released an official itinerary for her Asia trip without any mention of Taiwan, although it’s now been confirmed by Taiwanese officials that Nancy will in fact visit the democratic country despite an express warning from communist officials in China.
I'm leading a Congressional delegation to the Indo-Pacific to reaffirm America’s unshakeable commitment to our allies & friends in the region. In Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea & Japan, we’ll hold high-level meetings to discuss how we can further our shared interests & values.

It’s not clear when Pelosi will arrive in Taiwan, but the House speaker is expected to stay there overnight, officials told CNN. The trip will be the first time a House speaker has visited Taiwan in 25 years and comes amid warnings from top White House officials, including President Joe Biden himself.
Officials had warned about the trip due to safety concerns amid high tensions with China, which claims Taiwan is part of its territory despite island leaders maintaining it is self-governed. However, U.S. officials told the outlet that the Defense Department is working to ensure around-the-clock monitoring of Chinese movements in the region during her stay.

The California Democrat began her trip on Monday, landing in Singapore to begin her Asia tour.

Pelosi is leading a congressional delegation on her trip, Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee; Rep. Mark Takano (D-CA), chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs; Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA); Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL); and Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ).
Nancy’s willingness to ignite a foreign policy disaster with China merely adds to the concerns many of her GOP colleagues (and voters) have about the sheer level of corruption she brings to the House. The Pelosi family now boasts a collective net worth well into the hundreds of millions of dollars while Nancy rakes in a moderate six-figure salary.
Make it make sense…
