North Korea’s latest nuclear missile advancements should send chills down the spine of every patriotic American. The grim warnings from our intelligence community about Pyongyang’s expanding nuclear arsenal and missile capabilities confirm what we’ve long feared: the rogue regime’s ability to strike anywhere in our homeland is no longer theoretical—it’s real, and it’s imminent.
According to a recent Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) assessment, North Korea now possesses intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) that can reach every corner of the United States. The DIA bluntly stated, “There is no part of the Homeland which cannot be struck by existing ICBMs.” Make no mistake—Kim Jong Un and his cabal of tyrants aren’t looking to merely posture; their missile tests and military parades are a brazen show of intent.
Just last October, Pyongyang successfully tested an ICBM with an estimated range of over 9,300 miles, easily capable of hitting targets across the continental U.S. And that’s not all. Analysts project that the regime’s current stockpile of around 10 operational missiles could surge to 50 or more by 2035. The threat to Americans isn’t shrinking—it’s rapidly multiplying.
While President Trump has rightly prioritized America’s security through initiatives like the “Golden Dome,” a U.S.-style Iron Dome defense system, our current Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) missile shield faces severe limitations. With only 64 interceptor missiles stationed at bases in Alaska and California, our defenses risk saturation as North Korea’s missile count grows. Carnegie Endowment nuclear analyst Ankit Panda warned Congress in 2021 that Pyongyang’s ability to overwhelm our defenses is “eminently achievable.” Simply put, our safety margin is dangerously thin.
President Trump, in a January executive order, rightly identified missile strikes as “the most catastrophic threat facing the United States.” Yet despite his administration’s efforts to bolster defense, years of neglect by Biden and his allies have left us scrambling to shield our homeland. The Democrats’ weak-kneed approach to rogue nations has emboldened Kim Jong Un, allowing him to develop advanced weaponry virtually unchecked.
Hans Kristensen, director of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists, cautioned that while North Korea’s projected increases might not involve entirely new technology, they nonetheless represent a severe escalation in capability and threat. North Korea isn’t developing missiles for diplomatic leverage—they’re building them to threaten and possibly strike our cities, our infrastructure, and our families.
Compounding the urgency, North Korea’s submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) capabilities remain a troubling wildcard. In 2023, the regime launched a submarine designed specifically to fire nuclear-armed missiles. The DIA’s latest report didn’t even estimate the growing threat from these underwater platforms, leaving a dangerous blind spot in our national security calculations.
This is no time for half-measures or appeasement. We must swiftly expand our GMD capabilities, deploy additional interceptor silos, and fast-track the Golden Dome initiative. American lives should never be at the mercy of a dictator’s whims. President Trump’s America First agenda puts the security and prosperity of American citizens at its heart, and confronting the North Korean threat head-on is critical to achieving that vision.
Our nation deserves better than the reckless policies and wishful thinking of the past. We need resolute leadership, unwavering strength, and an ironclad commitment to protecting our homeland. The stakes are too high for anything less.
