As the election clock ticks down to the final month, a new study shows that Pennsylvania’s “bellwether” areas are shifting to the Republican side.
“This is more proof that these ancestors who were Democrats are leaving the party of their ancestors.”
The Cygnal poll found that former President Donald Trump is winning in Erie and Northampton Counties. Since 2008, these two counties have always voted for the state winner. Trump has the support of 49% of respondents, while only 48% back Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. This difference is likely to grow during the election, given Trump’s past performance.
“This is different from 2020: Pennsylvania’s ‘Bellwether Counties’ have barely swung back to Donald Trump,” Cygnal told the Daily Wire. “Democrats have a 4-point edge in party registration in these areas. This is more proof that these former Democrats are leaving the party in larger numbers.”
In the “bellwether” counties, voters were most interested in the economy and immigration, which are areas where Republicans are doing better than Democrats. A total of 31% of those voters said that inflation and the economy were their main concerns. Another 24% said that border security and immigration were their main concerns.
Trump beats Harris by 15% points when it comes to immigration and by 6% points when it comes to business.
In Pennsylvania, half of those who were likely to vote said they liked Trump’s job as president, while only 39% said they liked the present government.
If Harris loses Pennsylvania, her campaign will get a lot of bad press for choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate instead of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D). Harris ignored the Jewish politician, presumably to make anti-Israel Democratic voters happy. These voters have said they will not vote for Democrats unless they stop backing Israel and its war on Hamas terrorists.
