More people have been killed in the attack on Israel. More than 1,100 people have been tragically killed in the growing war between Israel and Hamas. More than 700 of those killed were in Israel. Over 250 people were killed and many more were taken hostage during the terrorist attack on a music event.
Israel retaliated by striking more than 800 sites in Gaza. There were over 400 deaths.
The Republicans should be able to speak out against this attack as a single unit, first by criticizing the terrorists from Hamas and then by talking about how Joe Biden’s policies and conduct have led to this point.
But Mike Pence gave a pretty bad speech when he attacked the Republicans running against him in the primary. He said something like this in Iowa a day earlier, but on CNN, he went even further. He was right when he said that Biden’s botched exit from Afghanistan had given bad people more power. He was right when he said Biden had “kowtowed to the tyrants in Iran” and for giving “$6 billion in ransom.” His take then went off the rails.
“But I further believe that this is what occurs when we’ve got leading voices such as Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy, as well as Ron DeSantis signifying retreat from America’s position as leader when it comes to the free world,” Pence stated. “When I am President of the United States, we will lead from an American Strength.”
I do not understand what he thought. You could try to give a worse take, but it would be hard. What do any of those people have to do with this horrible crime? At this point, none of them have the power to change anything. Furthermore, not one of them has been compromising with Iran; all have harshly denounced it. Maybe Pence wants to get ahead in the race, but this is not the way to do it. In fact, this kind of talk hurts him much more than it harms any of his rivals. If he is referring to Ukraine and not wanting to keep giving them American money without keeping track of it, that’s one thing. That reveals strength because it puts America first, and that’s what an American president is supposed to do.
But when he says something like this, it even hurts the Abraham Accords, which were made possible by former President Trump and assisted by Pence as Vice President. He seems to be really going after Trump here, however, Trump has always been strong against Iran and terrorists. He was strong for Israel. When the previous president was in charge, Hamas didn’t do anything like this since they understood that if they did, they would face hard times.
On top of that, this gives the Democrats an untrue argument that Pence is going to transform into an ad. Really terrible move.
Since Pence shared this video from his own account, he must not have known what a bad take it had been. This shows how far off base he is. A lot of people on X gave him a bad rating, with posters calling it an ugly take. I believe he made his already small chance of winning the GOP race even less likely.
