Liz Cheney has backed Kamala Harris for president, even though she had said before that Harris was a “radical leftist” who would outlaw guns and take health insurance away and give the government “control over every part of our lives.”
In a talk with Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, on Wednesday at the Generation Church in Arizona, Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio) said that people like Cheney now belong in the Democratic Party and that her support is “the best thing in the world.”
This week, Cheney had a “fireside chat” at Duke School of Public Policy. He talked about the upcoming election and the 2022 congressional election, in which Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) got more than twice as many votes as Cheney.
Like David French of the New York Times, Cheney said, “As a conservative, as an American who cares about our Constitution, I have thought a lot about this, and because of the dangers of Donald Trump, I am voting for Kamala Harris.”
Two years ago, most people in Wyoming who voted in the Republican primary rejected Cheney. This endorsement comes just days after a lot of Republican staffers who worked for President George W. Bush, the late Sen. John McCain and Sen. Mitt Romney (Utah) also rejected Trump.
Also, Cheney has changed his mind a lot since November 2020, when she said Harris sounded “just like Karl Marx.”
Cheney had written a month before, “Kamala Harris is a radical liberal who would love to raise your taxes, take away your guns and health insurance, make the federal government much bigger, and give it control over every part of our lives. The kind of America she wants to make is like what we have seen on the streets of Seattle and Portland. We’re not going to let her have it.”
Cheney endorsed Kamala Harris on Wednesday, and Charlie Kirk told Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), “It’s so interesting that every failed warmonger in the established D.C…. “machine” is behind her; that the peacemakers support Trump and Vance.” The Bible says, “Blessed are those who make peace.”
Vance replied, “Trump will make sure that people like Liz Cheney are mocked and ran out of the Oval Office instead of being rewarded during his next presidency. That’s a very good thing I could say about him.”
“Everything this person has done in her career is send other people’s children to die for her wars and crazy ideas that we could somehow make Afghanistan, a country where many places don’t even have running water, into a new liberal democracy,” Vance said. “She was ready to kill thousands of your children for that reason.”
