Kamala Harris Makes An Enraging Border Suggestion

VP Kamala Harris spoke with presenter Chuck Todd about border security during an episode of NBC’s “Meet the Press” that was shot in Texas and aired on September 11. Todd questioned Harris, “Would you call the border secure?” citing the historically high number of illegal immigrants who have snuck through the southern border into the United States over the previous year.

The first thing Harris said in response was that Todd should “pass a measure to establish a pathway toward citizenship,” but she qualified that statement by saying, “The border is secure, but we do have a dysfunctional immigration system.”

More illegal aliens have been encountered at the southern border so far in 2022 than there were at the same time last year when the U.S. encountered  1,734,686 migrants that were handled by Border patrol. These unlawful aliens comprise more than 69% single adults. As a point of contrast, there were 458,088 interactions along the southern border during the final year of former President Trump’s administration.

Todd questioned Harris about her level of assurance regarding the security of the border.

We do have a secure border because it is a priority for every country, including ours and this administration, Harris retorted.

She reaffirmed that the White House is focused on “putting into place a law and a strategy for a pathway to citizenship for the millions of individuals who have arrived and are willing to do what is lawfully required to obtain citizenship,” as she had stated earlier.

Amnesty efforts

Democrats have long advocated granting millions of illegal immigrants amnesty and, ultimately, citizenship.

Indicating that he would collaborate with lawmakers to “provide a clear roadmap for citizenship for roughly 11 million illegal immigrants,” then-candidate Joe Biden said during his 2020 presidential election.

As as soon as he came into office, the Biden Admin. unveiled the 2021 U.S. Citizenship Act, which would have granted green cards to people who are present in the United States unlawfully and granted citizenship to illegal aliens. The bill was unsuccessful because the Republicans would not back such a proposal.

The BBB Act, which would have granted amnesty to at minimum 7 million illegal immigrants and work approvals to many more, included amnesty measures that Democratic lawmakers attempted to insert. The House passed the bill, but the Senate did not take it up.

Is the border “secure” in reality?

Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas) responded to Harris’ comments on “Meet the Press” by saying that Harris “has done nothing to assist us in South Texas to safeguard our borders. She’s useless.”

On Sunday, Republican governor of Arizona Doug Ducey tweeted, “Let’s call this what it really is: an Open Border Policy. VP Harris and Pres. Biden are dumb when it comes to securing the border.”

“Border security is obviously NOT a priority at all for the Biden Admin. They have really no IDEA what’s occurring at their country’s southern border,” Ducey stated in another tweet.

Rep. Michael Cloud (R-Texas) asked: “How many managed to get away undetected? Border security is national security. Under the Biden admin, we have neither.” He was referring to the recent news that more than 66 suspects on a U.S. terrorist watch list had been apprehended crossing the border illegally.

Border security is national security, and under the Biden admin, we have neither. In FY22, 66 known terrorists were detained at the southern border, which is more than twice the amount in the preceding five years COMBINED.
