A new study from the New York Times shows that Donald Trump is just barely ahead of Kamala Harris.
The New York Times/Siena College poll shows that Trump has 48% of potential national voters’ support, while Harris has 47%.
Trump’s popularity has been slowly rising again in the polls after Harris’s “honeymoon.” period.
The study had a margin of error of 2.8 points and asked 1,695 people across the country.
A spokesman for Trump’s campaign, Steven Cheung, said, “Polling shows Trump is leading nationally and in battleground states. This is because people want a return to pro-America policies that really work, not the failed and dangerously left policies of Comrade Kamala.”
The study found that most people believe Harris’s views on abortion (54% to 49%) and democracy (50% to 45%). Trump, on the other hand, was more popular on the economy (55% to 42%) and immigration (53% to 43%).
The study also found that the economy (21%), abortion (14%), immigration (12%), inflation and rising costs of living (7%), and democracy (7%), were the most important problems to voters.
The poll also found that 56% of people don’t think Harris means a change in policy or direction from the Biden government. 51% of those who answered think Trump is a big change, which is different from the other number.
The New York Times says that more than 60% of potential voters want the next president to make big policy changes that are different from Biden’s unpopular time in office.
Political strategist James Carville recently wrote an opinion piece in which he said that the person who can market themselves as the biggest change from the current administration is the most likely to win. This clearly gives Trump an advantage over Harris, who is linked to the bad record of the Biden administration.
On top of that, Harris had a lower favorability rate than Trump. Only 45% of respondents liked her, while 46% liked Trump very much.
The best researcher in the country, and the sample size is very big. Nate Silver, an expert on political data, said about the latest poll, “Luckily for Harris, she has the debate this week, and if she has a good night, none of this will matter.”
Trump and Harris are going to meet on Tuesday night, which could make a huge difference in the outcome of the race.
