Filmmaker Michael Moore has accused leaders of the Democratic Party of “elder abuse” against 81-year-old President Joe Biden by pressuring him to continue with his failing reelection campaign.
Michael Moore attacked some party heavyweights in an MSNBC interview and on his own Rumble show following Joe Biden’s terrible debate performance, which continues to make headlines.
The issue at hand appears to be elder abuse, as individuals within the Democratic Party and apparatus are persistently pressuring him to stay. “I am staying,” the family responds, and he then emerges, as the Fahrenheit 9/11 director remarked.
Moore described Biden’s display in the debate as “heart-breaking.”
Imagine having your father up there. That’s what it was like. Why isn’t anyone taking action, I wonder? Why had they allowed him to walk out onstage like this? Who is monitoring him at this moment? At this moment, who is watching out for him?
“That evening, something wasn’t right. Everyone witnessed it,” he continued. “Neither your eyes nor mine were lying.”
On his Rumble show, Moore questioned whether Biden was well enough to be in the White House in an even more confrontational manner. “This concerns whether he ought to serve an additional four days,” he stated.
Moore has already criticized Biden for his views on Israel’s conflict with Hamas. However, Moore’s tone toward the president this week was more understanding.
“I will do what it takes to protect Joe Biden from the most brutal elder abuse I have ever had to witness—yes, you heard me right—if it means being the only person to stand up for Joe Biden here,” he said.
Moore said he agreed with one of former President Donald Trump’s remarks during the debate.
“I know there are words I’ve never used, but Trump was right when he went to Biden and asked him what his issue was with why he never fired anyone,” the speaker remarked. “I find it incredible that anyone is still working on this campaign a week later! How could that be true?”
Michael Moore is among an increasing number of prominent figures in the entertainment sector who are urging Biden to withdraw from the race.
Among the others are the CEO of Endeavor, Ari Emanuel; co-founder of Netflix; veteran studio head Barry Diller; and creator of Lost, Damon Lindelof.
One of Biden’s most devoted Hollywood backers, Rob Reiner, urged the president to “stand down” on Sunday.
