Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky just got a cold dose of reality—and he’s not happy about it.
After President Donald Trump called Vladimir Putin first to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, Zelensky admitted he felt snubbed, calling the move “not very pleasant.”
Translation: Zelensky just realized he’s no longer running the show.
Trump Moves to End the War—With or Without Zelensky
Trump made it crystal clear that his priority is negotiating peace, not blindly funneling billions into another endless war.
“Somebody said, ‘Oh, I should have called Zelensky first.’ I don’t think so. I mean, we have to find out whether or not Russia wants to make a deal,” Trump told reporters.
Unlike the Biden administration, which wrote blank checks to Ukraine with zero strategy, Trump is actually working to end the war—on America’s terms.
Zelensky, who has milked Washington for a record-breaking $183 billion, immediately tried to assert himself, saying he wouldn’t accept any deal without Ukraine at the table. But let’s be real—Zelensky doesn’t have the leverage anymore.
Trump Shakes Up the War Machine
After years of Biden’s disastrous foreign policy, Trump isn’t playing games. He’s already:
- Spoken directly with Putin to open peace talks
- Warned Russia of crippling tariffs and sanctions if they refuse to cooperate
- Made it clear that Ukraine won’t dictate the terms of U.S. foreign policy
Meanwhile, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met with Zelensky this week to discuss Trump’s real priority—access to Ukraine’s vast mineral resources in exchange for U.S. security assistance.
Zelensky’s Popularity Crumbles
Trump didn’t hold back when addressing Zelensky’s fading influence, pointing out that the Ukrainian leader’s poll numbers are sinking.
“Zelensky will have to do what he has to do,” Trump said. “But his poll numbers are not particularly great, to put it mildly.”
Even Zelensky himself admitted this week that he’s willing to negotiate, hinting at territorial swaps with Russia—something unthinkable just months ago.
What’s Next?
With Trump in charge, the U.S. is done bankrolling endless war. Expect:
- Serious peace negotiations that prioritize U.S. interests, not Zelensky’s wishlist
- A shift away from Biden’s reckless spending in Ukraine
- More leverage over Ukraine’s resources in exchange for future aid
Trump has flipped the script, and Zelensky is scrambling to keep up.
