“FEMA took money away from disaster relief and spent it on 5-star hotels for illegals,” Musk posted.
Within hours, acting FEMA Administrator Cameron Hamilton confirmed the payments had been suspended and that staff who approved them would be fired.
Even Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem doubled down, agreeing with Trump that FEMA is broken and must be completely overhauled.
NYC Scrambles to Defend Migrant Freebies
New York City rushed to defend itself, claiming that FEMA’s $81 million payment (which included the $59 million Musk identified) was already allocated by Congress last year.
City officials insisted they weren’t paying luxury rates, despite housing tens of thousands of illegal migrants in high-end hotels while Americans struggle with rising costs and crime.
