Democrats Pay To Import Tech Workers

South Bend, Indiana city officials will subsidize the cost of bringing in foreign H-1B’s for good paying white-collar occupations, assisting businesses that are outsourcing employment.

South Bend officials unveiled a plan this month that allots $300,000 to a “high-skill migration fund” that will share processing fee costs with businesses to bring in foreigners on H-1B visas for white-collar positions.

South Bend Companies have already employed a small number of foreigners on H-1B visas for positions like development engineers as well as data scientists. The plan is being implemented as South Bend’s unemployment rate, which has increased since 2021 and is currently 3.4%, continues to rise.

Similarly, South Bend’s hourly wages are lower than the national average.

Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), who is vying for the US Senate, has previously backed significant changes to the H-1B visa program to stop businesses from undercutting American wages and firing Americans to reduce labor expenses.

Others have advocated completely ending the H-1B visa program.

Breitbart News has been documenting the mistreatment of American white-collar workers as a result of the H-1B visa program for years. Approximately 650,000 foreign employees on H-1B visas are present in the country at any given time. According to Breitbart News, Americans are frequently fired during the process and made to teach their foreign replacements.

Fortune 500 corporations like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, JP Morgan Chase, Apple, and others have found the outsourcing-offshoring business strategy to be extremely profitable. These companies frequently work with “body shop” companies like IBM, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys, Tata Consulting services, and Capgemini to fire their American staff and swap them with thousands of foreign H-1B visa workers, most of whom are from India.

According to research by the Economic Policy Institute, the majority of businesses that import foreign H-1B visa workers do so at significant salary cost savings.

President Joe Biden has effectively undone all of the changes that previous President Trump made to the H-1B visa program. For instance, Biden permitted businesses that had been refused H-1B visas for foreign workers by the Trump admin. to reapply in 2021.

The majority of Americans concur that the US already has access to enough talent for white-collar positions to avoid importing foreign workers with work permits. According to the most recent Rasmussen Reports poll, 55% of potential voters prefer businesses hire skilled American professionals and college graduates over foreigners on work visas.
