CNN recently announced that their star anchor, Chris Cuomo, will be suspended indefinitely as the network launches an investigation into his conduct following the stunning revelations of sexual misconduct performed by his brother, the ousted Democratic governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo.
On Monday, the New York Attorney General’s office leaked transcripts that shed light on Chris Cuomo’s direct involvement in his brother’s defense. The documents, according to CNN, were not available to the network before their recent public release, and raise serious concerns. CNN claims that Chris admitted to the network that he broke the news outlet’s rules by offering advice to his brother’s staff.
CNN continued, however, to point out that the documents reveal that Chris had “a greater level of involvement… than we previously knew,” and upon catching his corruption, he’s been suspended from the network indefinitely.
Calls had already been made to fire Chris, but those requests intensified on Monday after the newly-release documents revealed the level of involvement he had in aiding his embattled brother.
Transcripts reveal that Chris admitted he would look into finding those who accused his brother of sexual misconduct, despite the fact that on air he claimed that he “never made calls… about my brother’s situation.”
Three days after the story about Anna Ruch broke on the New York Times, who alleged that the governor sexually harassed her during a 2019 wedding reception, Chris Cuomo was caught texting Andrew Cuomo’s aide Melissa DeRosa, “I have a lead on the wedding girl.”
Further correspondence between Chris and DeRosa was discovered, as DeRosa asked Chris to “check sources” for an anticipated “1-2 more ppl coming out tomorrow.”
Chris Cuomo was also caught snooping on reporting about his brother from Ronan Farrow, and relayed all relevant information to Andrew’s inner circle.
CNN explains that Cuomo lied to them about his involvement in the case, claiming that he was simply conducting “business-as-usual” regarding the story, but the recently released text messages caught by state investigators reveal that Chris was acting as a source of inside information for the governor’s office at the time.
